Sick Days

Monday, October 04, 2010

I, and many people I know, have come down with the same bug. essentially, it's a very bad cold, with a very bad sore throat. Add, in my case, asthma and type I diabetes, and you've got a recipe for being very ill indeed.

There seems to be a dearth of advice as to how to keep to one's resolution to consume fewer calories than one expends, and eat healthily, during such periods of ill-health. While so many people to war three days with the sniffles is two or three days with the sniffles, and then returned to the gym and green leafy vegetables picked by hand from the allotment, for me this is the third week, and while I am recovering, I somehow doubt that "forget the diet" is the best way forward.

The trouble is, when ill, only certain foods tempt me. For the sore throat, the need is for succulent food. Hence tonight's dinner of moussaka. lunch was soup, as it often is.
