WHERE IS MY BRA?

Tuesday, October 05, 2010

It's official...my creative mind and imagination are wandering again!

So this morning...I was imagining a couple of pre-teen girls having a slumber party in the late 60's! (stop...I am NOT a perv...read on please) They are giggling because one of their brothers was doing push-ups per his Charles Atlas Wall Chart! He was 17...shirtless...and doing the perfect push-up! The girls laughed and laughed and laughed!

So they wondered...as youth do...what it would be like to be the other sex! (funny how that is "normal" with youth...abnormal in later life...) So they put on gym shorts...take off their shirts...taped a carpet scrap of shag carpeting to their chest and STRUGGLED to pump out even a few BOY PUSH-UPS!

They both crashed to the floor...laughing...and hurting...and wondering WHY ANYONE WOULD EVER DO A PUSH-UP!

So...you are probably wondering..."Why in the the world would Todd share such a bizarre thought?"...well the truth...as I tempted to start the 100 push-up challenge this morning...shirtless on the wood floors...I looked at myself struggling in the 5th set...pencil arms shaking...hairy chest dripping from just a few minutes of work...and saw the truth...from this angle...gravity pulls EVERYTHING down and I looked like a pre-teen in need of a training bra!

Horrified...I fell on my face laughing!

I realized...I have spent my ENTIRE LIFE AVOIDING THE PUSH UP! I HATE THEM! In gym...I always had to use the restroom during push-ups! I have always had amazingly strong thighs and never felt the need to develop my 'guns" to lift anything. I had a teacher I admired a few years ago tell me, "so men don't have upper bodies meant to be developed...yours is one of them...besides...in later life...when their muscle is falling...you will still look GREAT!"

I realize now...that was BAD ADVICE...it ALL FALLS!

But...since I avoid the push-ups...I thought...probably MANY of my spark friends have something THEY AVOID! You don't have to share...but ask yourself WHY you are avoiding it? Just because you NEVER HAVE...doesn't mean you NEVER SHOULD! Think about it! If you have the tools and knowledge to make something better...why not work on it?

In the meantime...where is my bra?

Love pushups! No need to avoid them, just tackle them head on! I am also doing the 100 pushup challenge, I'm in week 4 (again - did this challenge before and gave up here) and loving it!

    Thanks for the laugh!

We avoid pushup because they are HARD. The best thing about doing something hard is that it is SUPER EASY TO MEASURE PROGRESS.

With pushups, you go from being able to do ZERO military style, to settling in doing 3 bended need - fast... to with practice and not quitting, in 2 weeks being able to do 10 bended knee, at a mod-slow pace. This means that you are likely doing some other works, and strength training, and that includes yoga. If you keep it up, at the end of the month, you will be adding 2 military and each week add 2 more. BAMMMM... you're on your way!!

So, it's hard BOO. But, we continue.

Oh Todd, you kill me. Last Tuesday I was watching "Biggest Loser" with my 82 year old client. When one of the contestants took their shirt off to weigh in, my client snorted and said, "That man has bigger breasts than you do!" emoticon I almost peed my pants I laughed so hard.

Precious, Todd, just precious! What a visual you have given me this morning!!!

I actually thought you were going to end that story by saying that the girl having the sleep-over was your sister, and you were the guy doing the perfect push-ups that the girls were giggling at!

I've never enjoyed push-ups, either. But, if they are really as good for us as the article that Tony (HEALTHDUDE) shared with us a while back, then I'll keep doing them!

    Keep up the good work!

You're a sick man. And I love it.

I've always thought of myself as a man in a woman's body. Not that I don't like being a woman. BUTTTTT - I've always been athletic. I like beer. I prefer men's conversations to women's. I own a John Deere. I have the nicest lawn in the neighborhood. I don't let my husband do anything outside unless it requires a ladder. I prefer a shift vs auto. I moved 5 TONS of pellets by myself a few weeks back. I lead when we dance (ok, it was only once and he was a little inebriated...) I have bigger (fill in the blanks) then most men. NEW ADD: I'm a veteran. Have also been a father.

From a woman's perspective, I will never bend over if anyone is in the room. They don't call them *knee slappers* for nothing!

OK, I have to change gears. Laundry, dinner. Oh, the pain...

    You are always hilarious!

I'll share - but it's not a pretty picture. I'm waiting for the invention that holds those "arm flaps" in place! No one allows me to wave - they tell me they feel like they're standing in a "wind tunnel". So what should I do beyond waiting for the invention??

And FYI: Methinks you are too harsh on yourself.
