On a positive note ...

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I'm a pretty positive person. I know this and apparently some other people know it, too. I was once asked to (please?) sit next to an elderly lady at church who has a reputation for being a "Maxine" type. She constantly whispered complaints that other people were off-key when singing, or criticized the Pastor for preaching on this or that AGAIN (yes, this decade!). I agreed to sit beside her, started ribbing her for being "altogether too positive." I'd say, "Aw, come on, you're being too kind!" She caught on and one Sunday actually laughed out loud! Mission accomplished.

Another time, we had a group lunch at work and a high percentage (40% or so) got sick within a couple of hours, apparently from food. I wasn't sick, but I made a comment the whole office heard: "Hey, if we all get food poisoning, we won't have to come to work tomorrow!" The boss heard it and came back with, "Well. There has to be SOMETHING good about getting food poisoning."

Even food poisoning (and I've had it once) hasn't stopped me from eating. But I'm a little more careful now, and thanks to SP, in more ways than one.

Which reminds me, it's time for a snack!

    Mindful eating becomes a habit.

I think I would like to sit next to you too!
