I want to run

Monday, November 01, 2010

I have been becoming more active in the last month and I am enjoying it. I walk every morning here at work in the school's cafeteria. I am a school nurse and my office is next to the cafeteria. When the kid s finish breakfast, I go in and walk. I have been trotting some. Now I want to increase it to running. I don't know if I can do it because I have quite a bit of weight to lose. I feel the energy to try. I never thought this would happen! This is great. I feel like I am getting a new life. I t just feels great!!!

OMG you're going to love running. I remember myself just where you are now. I also work at a school and I used to go in the gym during my lunch break and walk. At times I would start to run and could only run no more than about 50 feet without feeling like I'll past out. But I kept it up, bought a treadmill and now I'm running 5Ks. I love running, as a matter of fact I was out this past Saturday in 34 degree weather running downtown on the river. I love it, and thank God that I have the strength and endurance to do. I say JUST DO IT!

Back in the worst of the heat, I too felt the urge to run. My first few steps were the width of three of four parking spaces. I did it a couple of times the first time, but it was just tooo hot. So I started wishing for cooler temps. The cooler temps are here now, and I'm trying a little more, but the hips are complaining due to the 'impact', but I'm still trying ... so I completely understand. Keep on going, we'll get there, one stride at a time!!!

I understand completely what you mean, I have been power walking for some time now and last week, I started jogging a little. Now, I am a big girl, but I want to be able to run more than anything, so I did a little, loved it. So now when I walk, I just jog past driveway entrances, not to much, but enough to know I want more. I know you will do it and will be great at it. Good luck to you. emoticon

You might as well try. You have nothing to lose but more weight, so why not go for it?
