Doing it without my husband

Thursday, November 25, 2010

Well since my husband and myself are trying to save money we have stopped eating out.
Any way...Today is payday at work and our grocery shopping day which is the only time of the month that we eat out. We decided to stop at Wendy's and I pulled up my Spark App and looked up what I thought I would like to eat. I ordered what I looked up and made sure it was within my calorie limits.
My husband ordered a double baconader large size. As we were eating he got up and went to the counter and ordered an order of boneless wings and a frosty. I asked him why and he said he just felt like sharing it with me.
I realized that I could not wait for my husband to be ready to be healthy with me. I have to do it even if I have to do it on my own.
It does make me sad because I remember a different time when my husband loved to work out and eat right. I miss that man but I miss the woman that loved to work out and eat right that he was married to more.

This is a common problem for all I think. My partner doesnt have a weight problem and was really againist me dieting and being on spark. Now that I weigh the same and on some days a few pounds less she has changed her mind and bought us two new bikes and now takes rides with me. I'm just not allowed to brag if I do go down. I'm happy within my self. Keep it up. Either he will join you or he wont. Dont give in, do this for yourself. Susan

Good for you! My significant other also does not eat healthy. It's hard because we also have a "date night" where we eat out, and often I give in. Congrats to not giving in. I know it can be hard!

I know the feeling... my husband is supportive of what I want to do, but I wish he was on board as well. Would make it easier.

Good for you! That was a real test, and you passed with flying colors.

You indeed have to do it for youself. I went through the same struggle trying to stop smoking - ex-hubby wouldn't give it up. Made it much harder, but I did it.

You're doing just the right things - DO NOT WAIT for ANYONE ELSE to "join" you.......or else you'll never get what you want done done!!!!! (Don't ask me how I know this......sigh.....)

    Hang in there!

Ah, that's a bummer! It's so much easier to undertake this journey when you have a supportive partner. Hopefully he'll come around eventually...but in the meantime, good for you for deciding that you need to keep going, with or without him!

If I went to Wendy's now I'd probably get indigestion, especially from what your hubby ordered! I remember being out in the taxi in 2009 and I skipped a meal which was unusual for me, so I stopped off at a Rally's and grabbed a couple of double Bufords. The indigestion afterward told me that, NO...DON'T START THIS AGIAN!

Your husband has to be ready. Sometimes, the numbers will shock you into reality...maybe you would like to share them with him (if you already haven't)

Wendy's Baconater Double: 980 calories 63 Fat Grams 27 Saturated
Honey BBQ boneless wings: 570 calories 18 Fat Grams 3.5 Sat
Original Frosty: 410 calories 10 Fat Grams 7 Saturated

So, just those 3 things are 1960 calories, 91 Fat Grams, 37.5 Saturated Fat Grams. If he had fries and a drink with the first order, he could be pushing 3k cals and nearly 130 Fat grams in one dinner meal.

I was 380 pounds and I ate like that at one time. I feel your pain and wish you success in getting through to him.

I feel what you are going through. I've been dieting and exercising since last April and I don't get any encouragement at home from my wife. Once I got serious about changing my eating habits, I realized that this was a huge problem, among many others. Changing your eating habits is hard enough, but it is even harder when you have someone that isn't helping you be successful. Maybe you should talk to him about his eating habits and what you are trying to do and how he is making it harder for you. Being a guy, I kinda get how we think about things like this. Maybe he doesn't realize just how much a shot in the arm he would be giving you if he was right there with you trying to improve himself. It is worth a shot! Keep up the good work!

Good for you! You can't wait on anyone when it comes to your health. Hopefully he will be inspired by your efforts. It took mine a while to come around, but he is now working out and eating "better." Just focus on you and your journey. That's all you can do.

P.S. I had a grilled chicken sandwich with side salad. And I did not have any of the frosty or boneless wings.

You can do it on your own. And you won't really be on your own because there are many, many supportive people here to be by your side as you get healthy. Hopefully by your example he will change his perspective over time. I hope so!!!
You've got it right, girl! Good luck!!!
