Nov 2010

Sunday, November 28, 2010

Wow I can't believe how long it has been since I have been posting on spark people. I guess Facebook really took over my life for quite awhile there.

Let me just get caught up a little bit. Got married on June 13, 2009 to a great man.

In July of 2009 I ordered the Food Lover's Fat Loss program and was actually doing pretty good from the time I received it which was near the end of July until November when I had a major set back in my life. My youngest son was arrested. I spent every Saturday evening and even some Sunday mornings and Tuesday evenings at the jail visiting with him and talking to him as well as listening to him. This really hit me hard and for months I blamed myself and tried to figure out where I went wrong as a parent. I beat myself up for months over this and didn't focus on me anymore. Then at the end of April 2010 he was released and things seemed to be going great.

In May of 2010 my aunt, Rosie who is mentally challenged and crippled, had a doctors appointment due to a cold she couldn't shake. So while we were there, the nurse mentioned that my aunt has never had a mammogram. I explained to here that we had tried back in Nov of 2009 and weren't successful due to my aunt not being able to stand and lean into the machine. So the nurse said that there was an alternative way which is an ultrasound. She said there would need to be paperwork filled out to prove that the other way wasn't an option. I asked her to please do whatever she could to get the ultrasound approved. They did the paperwork and my aunt had her ultrasound in July 2010. They found a lump in her left breast. Since my aunt is fragile when it comes to any kind of procedure, she had to be put under for her biopsy. As soon as the doctor was done, he came out and told me that it didn't look good. So I had to spend the next month trying to prepare her for the surgery that was going to follow. On Sept 3, 2010 my aunt had a double mastectomy. She has been in a new nursing home since the surgery. In October 2010, Rosie was given a clean bill of health.

Now that all of this is now behind me, I want to focus on me again and work towards loosing this weight. I am following the Food Lover's Fat Loss Program because I believe in it and I know that it works because in that short amount of time that I was able to focus on me, I lost 17 pounds. Keeping track of what I eat and drink is the hardest part for me so I am planning to use Spark People to keep track of all of that.
