Knowing when to leave is tough!

Monday, December 06, 2010

If you met me in real life...some of you would LOVE ME and some...probably wouldn't...and that is OK!

If you saw me in a social situation...you would probably think I was pretty quiet!

If you met me or experienced me in a leadership position...99% of you would think I was AMAZING! I know this! To inspire is my life strength! But somehow...that strength is not as strong in cyber world!

So...after much thought and with a heavy heart...I am stepping down immediately from all co-leader positions!

In OKC...Courtney is AMAZING! And the 10 or so that are active...rock it out...but with over 6500 members...more should be active and despite individually beating bushes...I couldn't drive any action.

On Making It Happen...The team RUNS ITSELF! Jon is the strong, silent leader in the back...and knows when to step in. Jerome is a FITNESS ROCK STAR and has/takes the time to build one on one relationships with EVERY MEMBER OF THE TEAM!

I have always thought I was a multi-tasker, but when I lead, I don't focus on me...and then I GET CHEATED!

I have many different jobs, a business, and a few VERY IMPORTANT PEOPLE in my life THAT NEED ME...and I HAVE PUT THEM AFTER SPARK...and THAT IS NOT FAIR TO THEM! And all the while...I wasn't giving all I SHOULD to my teams!

I will remain Sparking, Inspiring, and a MEMBER of only ONE TEAM...because at THIS POINT in MY LIFE and in MY RELATIONSHIPS...that is how I CAN BE SUCCESSFUL!

So...not good-bye...more of a hidden lesson in balance...that I encourage each of you to reflect and learn from! And if you have to make a change...remember...knowing when to leave is tough!

Todd, change can be good in the scenario you describe. Interestingly, I'm reading a book on a related topic - boundaries, boundaries are a good thing and that term is often misunderstood and not explored properly.

Take good care of yourself - hope to see you here in the MIH team.

You go do what makes Todd happy, just don't become a stranger.

Here's a quote from my best gal - Ayn Rand:

"I'm working to improve my methods, and every hour I save is an hour added to my life."

Good for you. I also had to realize that I'm a good motivator but will sacrifice my own needs over that of others. I, too, quit a leadership position but continue motivating others without the stresses or compromises that accompany my Spark Leadership (my choice & my responsibility). I slipped over the last 5 months but am back to working hard for my goals and encouraging others to do the same. This is good, life is good, & I am happy.

I understand and support your decision. Thank you for being a leader, a motivator and inspiration to All. I am a warrior and I'm not giving up on OKC. Thank you for the kind words and I am so glad you are apart of my journey. You are an amazing person and you've encouraged me so much.

Todd, you are part of the reason I became involved in the MIH team. ALL the leaders of this team were just the right balance to keep things stirred up and engage a lot of members. Thank you for the inspiration and energy you added.

I too totally understand you having to pull back though; because I also had to drop out of other teams when I became more active on this one. We all have to find the balance that works for us individually.

I do hope you stay active even if you are not leading - and I hope to meet you in person at the races in Kansas next April!

Todd you are amazing and I'm not as involved as I should but the only reason I started getting involved was because of you! I love Jerome like a brother and he said you were as equally as good as a guy. I understand you stepping down and putting your family first but thank you for being an inspiration to me and making me feel so welcomed to the team! You're amazing! Maybe soon we can have an OKC get together so we can all meet outside the cyber world!

Todd, Todd, my friend, my inspiraton:

Even though I never joined any of the teams you were on, I watched and listened to you (and some of your team mates) from afar! Even if I tried, you could NOT know how much you encouraged me. Today was an example, but I won't go into that here on YOUR SparkBlogPage. (Maybe I'll blog about it later, but knowing me, I won't). I'm a contradiction in life...I have always been a fighter, yet by the same token due to my quietness and shyness...my fighting is "self-contained" by listening to others, or more so by believing in God with all my heart.

Todd, I believe in YOU! I understand and totally SUPPORT your decision to place family and others where they should be in your life and heart. ALWAYS, ALWAYS place them first, as the most unexpected things can happen. I know...I've lost all of my family but I thank God that I was always there for them and they knew how much I loved them.

I hope, however, that you will find a little time for yourself (which is needed) and for your SparkPeopleFriends. Do remember I have always "preached" balance.

You will always be in my heart!

You will be missed! hopefully you will remain on MIH, so we can still see you around. I know all about cutting back on teams. Spark is a great place, but is time consuming if you let it be. i have had to cut back on a lot of the teams i was on and i am sure i have neglected many of my friends, but we have people in our non-cyber lives who depend on us. I am sure all of the Sparkies with agree with your decision, as much as we will miss you.

    Todd you are amazing!

You are an amazing leader, inspiration and friend.

YOU deserve only the best my friend. If stepping aside is what that means, than I'll accept that, ONLY if you work on YOU as indicated.

You are and will always be a huge inspiration! You will always be a friend and THAT means more to me than anything.

    Todd,

I hope you know what an encourager you have been in my life. You ARE an amazing leader, and I totally get that when you're leading, you're getting cheated.

Not knowing you had posted this blog, I wrote a blog this morning as a spin off from a question on Amanda's blog. If you get a chance, please read it. It's my tribute to you and your belief in me. I love you, Todd, for the leader, encourager, and belief-builder that you are!

Acknowledging your priorities and taking action on them is the foundation to building the life that you want...not the life that others want for you. Many people with "weight problems" (I include myself) have a history of people-pleasing. Because we find it difficult to say no, or to disappoint others, we often find ourselves over-committed, over-scheduled, over-tired, with little or no time for us. Congratulations on this decision. Enjoy the holiday season!

I completely understand! Real life can suffer when we get overly involved online. My hubby is retired and was feeling cheated as I got so involved on SP. As one of your newer Sparkfriends I appreciate what you've added to the mix and wish you the best!

Knowing what you can and cannot do is a good thing, indeed. Well done on identifying and protecting priorities.

I hope you know I love you!!! My husband knows, so now it's time that you know, too!!!

Todd, while not a leader, I dropped a bunch of teams while you were away! I felt like I was spread way too thin. I couldn't do any of them justice, and I was the one getting cheated, as well as my teammates! If I am going to be a part of anything, I want to give it my all!! So, buddy, I get it!

You know what? Within 2 weeks of concentrating on one team and ME, I reached my goal! You can do it too....you are very, very close!

I will be watching you (no, not like that!)!! And you wil forever be my #1 friend!!
I can't wait to see what happens with you next!

I want to ask you to do something ELSE for me, please. While you were gone, I posted 2 Fairy Tale Blogs. You may have commented on the first one-I can't remember. But, when you get time, please read the 2nd one--the Prequel. It would mean a lot to me.

I'm heading back to the ward! Peepster is in bed with the crud.

Good call..."The very important people in your life do need to be first".

I was hoping you weren't going to say you were leaving Sparkland.

    Enjoy the balance!
