Should you re-set your weight ticker? I did...

Thursday, December 09, 2010

Over the past few months, my weight started to inch up...not by pounds, but by ounces. I kept telling myself it was no big deal, I would soon be back to my recorded weight and continue as usual.
Numbers can play with your head. All of a sudden I had 8 more pounds to drop before I could even budge from my posted weight. It was overwhelming and I felt like I was trying to swim upstream.

So I ate a big piece of humble pie (no calorie pie), bit the bullet (again no calories), and made the decision to JUST DO IT!

What a relief that was! It was much easier exercising, NOT t to CATCH UP, but to make progress ...... forward.
My team (Week joined Jan 3-9) has issued a daily challenge and it has helped me re-focus and get in a much-needed variety of (not difficult) exercises.
emoticonGO TEAM!
I'm back on track. Wanna help me raise some dust?
Go, SparkPeople friends!!! You are the best!!! emoticon emoticon

Only 8 pounds? I had to reset mine for a 9 pound gain! I guess I'm the over-achieving cousin!

I weigh everyday good or bad.
Up or down I enter my weight to just stay focused.
I have noticed that I remain about the same and I am okay with that. I don't like getting hoorays for weight lost especially when it is weight I found again from yesterday.

I measure 2 times a month and like to watch the results of my efforts. I was so excited to go from an Apple to an Avocado.
I hope to stay in the Avocado phase and not go back to an apple that is for sure. But I remain honest with myself.

Exercise from Crossfit is not logable in spark so I tweak it to be aerobic exercise. I sweat like a crazy person and it is for 60 minutes but I wish I could really record what I did as exercise to see what calories I really am burning.

Thanks for keeping us all honest.
    I love you,

You are so right!! The numbers DO play games with your head! When I have a week that's been difficult---I do my best to "at least" match my weight loss on that little ticker!

I did the same with the scale when I was a member of Weight Watchers! My weigh in was on Fridays....and I had that down to a science! I knew EXACTLY how far I could go over the weekend, and still be OK on the scale the following Friday! CRAZY!

I'm glad you like the daily challenges that we started on our spark team. They are fun and a change of pace for me also! Keep up the good work and remember if you take my challenge to drink 8 cups of water and do 10 jumping jacks before each glass of what it is IMPORTANT to do the jumping jacks THEN drink the water! You know why! LOL!

I had lost a few pounds the week of Thanksgiving and was able to reach a 41 pound loss and of course set my ticker to reflect it. Then two of those buggers showed up again a few days after Thanksgiving but I didn't change my ticker.... they hung around for a week and I felt like I was lying about what I weighed so I adjusted my ticker up two pounds and felt soooooooooo much better emoticon

The next day I was down a pound emoticon so I changed my ticker again emoticon

It can be a mind game that we play with ourselves.... I doubt anyone's keeping score... they are all too nice
