My VitaMix Infatuation

Saturday, January 08, 2011

I have a new love in my life and it has me oozing sheer delight and positivity... my one and only, dear-to-my-heart, VitaMix.

Oh, how I wish I had met you sooner, VitaMix. I didn't know you would make my journey so much easier and enjoyable. All I could focus on was how darned expensive you were! Little did I realize that some things are worth the investment, especially, when it comes to life, health, and body improvement. I could not see your immense value and just how much you really have to offer.

No longer do I need to feel deprived of having delicious desserts... No longer do I have to struggle to get all my fruits and veggies in... No longer can my littlest one get away with FREGGIE AVOIDANCE... No longer do I have to shy away from juicing because of a messy and tedious clean-up...

You've made all that disappear with just one pulsating touch.

Even Hubby has come to appreciate and love you in the same way that I do as he continues to expand his wonderful culinary skills with less time-consuming methods and more ease.

And in some mysterious way, YOU, VitaMix, have managed to bring a fresh, crisp, new perspective and energy into my journey while making it easier for me to recruit the family into healthier eating.

Last year's meal planning would have been so much simpler had I had you in my life, and it makes me lamentful to think that perhaps I would have been better equipped to stay on track and make progress in my healthier lifestyle had I had you. But now that you're here, 2011 is looking brighter and more promising with each passing day and I am not looking back to what could have been.

So it is with deeply felt gratitude that I thank you for bringing one very important aspect back into my journey... the gift of adventure...

And, VitaMix, you totally rock...

JustCarolyn, the Vitamix website has PLENTY of recipes. There are plenty of raw food websites that also have recipes made in the Vitamix...just do a Google search! :)

AHEANTHIERME, I've had my Vitamix since October. I'd wanted one for years, but didn't think I could afford it. I pulled a KitchenAid blender out of a box (brand new, two years old...just never used, I'd moved so much I was never in one place long enough to use it), and I was so disappointed I'd spent $125 on it. I decided...that was it. I got the reconditioned Vitamix, with free shipping (there are TONS of online coupons), in three payments.

It is my best purchase EVER!

I an single...and to make lunch and dinner easier, I made fifteen different soups, froze them in individual servings, and put them in the freezer. I take out a few of them every few days, let them thaw in the fridge, and heat them back up in the blender (or if I have a temp job, blend it, because the fiber and liquid separate after freezing and then heat it at work).

For people who balk at the price, I've easily paid myself back in the amount of smoothies and soups I've made. It's not about the money, it's about making an investment in your health. :)

As for desserts, my favorite is still taking frozen strawberries, a little water, and a little stevia or sugar (if I am out of stevia), and making a soft serve sorbet. :)

Sparkie...the Vitamix is incredibly powerful...AND for the price you pay, you need to know you have a seven year warranty. I think about all the money I've spent on blenders in the past...and never again. :)

I bought mine recently and am surprised at the ease and how much I have used it. I have become very creative with morning smoothies. I have finally added in that fruit that I've been missing. I throw in a variety of things and it always comes out great. This morning it was 4 fresh strawberries, about 10 frozen blueberries, 1/2 a frozen banana, a small hunk of fresh pineapple, 1 very small orange with seeds, one very small carrot and 3 ice cubes. It made about 8 ozs worth which is smaller than a usual day. I usually end up with about 16 ozs. I substitute mango, have added spinach, leave out some things and add more of others. You really can't go wrong.

2.5 cups seedless cukes, 2 Tbls fresh basil, 1 small sweet onion, 1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese or ricotta - blend together then add fat free buttermilk and chicken broth to taste( actually to thickness) then ass garlic salt and 2 Tbls white wine vinegar....makes the most fab cold soup ever!

I also do a cold soup with 8 cups seedless watermelon(about a 6lb melon including rind) 1 english cuke(peeled & seeded), 1/2 red bell pepper, 1/4 cup tightly packed fresh basil, 1/4 cup tightly packed parsley, 2 Tbls red wine vinegar, 2 Tbls shallot, 2 Tbls olive oil...pinch salt. Blend and serve! Yummm!

Well, the thing that I think is THE BEST thing about it is that no matter what you use it for, it's SOOOOO EASY to clean.

It's like a blender, mixer, chopper all into one, but it also has other really neat features. You can toss some low-fat shredded cheese, nonfat milk, and broccoli into it, hit a button, walk away for six minutes, and voila... you have a healthy version of broccoli cheese soup.

Desserts, I no longer have to settle for a quarter of a cup of ice cream. I can have something that tastes way better and is more healthful. For example, I had a smoothie made with Almond Breeze Vanilla Almond Milk, Plain Low Fat Yogurt, Banana, Pecans, Walnuts, Vanilla Extract, Honey, and Ice (a whole glass of it) and it tasted better but very similar to Butter Pecan Ice Cream.

DH likes it because it's simplifies all the chopping of different ingredients...

Lorraine, take that thing out! You'll be so happy you did :)

I'd love to know more about kitchen gadgets!

For example, it would be cool to hear how people use Vita Mix, vs. Blender vs. Food Processor,

cause I have no clue what to use for what, and which would I want for what I do?!?!?!

Love the new photo on your page. Love Hot Air Balloons.

You got me curious as I never hears of this. How is this different from a blender? How do you use for desserts?

We were at Costco today and I hinted to my DH that is what I want for my birthday. He just gave me one of those looks! Okay, for my birthday, mothers day, anniversary and every holiday in 2011. emoticon

We have had our Vita-mix for 7 years and love, love, love it! It took some convincing on my end to get my hubby to buy it due to the price but once he saw the in-store infomercial he was sold. We use it a minimum of 3 times a day everyday - sometimes more. Best appliance purchase I have ever made! Glad you have welcomed one into your life. emoticon

Ah, VitaMix, I see you've met one of my favorite tools in the kitchen! We have had a VitaMix for, um, something like 25+ years. It doesn't 'make' you eat healthier, of course, but it sure is a useful tool when you put it to use! Enjoy--may you enjoy many, many years together!!

Okay, you have my curiousity peaked. I personally LIKE EATING my freggies, but my sis had been harping on how much she wanted a juicer but that they were soooo expensive and most don't work well. Then, I happened upon a new one (VitaMix) in box at an incredible price (like $25.00)....so I bought it for here over a year ago - during my pre-Spark days, in the hopes that somehow this miracle machine would help us to lose weight. It still sits in it's box.

I, personally, am not into cleaning kitchen gadgets, so until she finds reason to check it out, in it's box it will remain. However, one sentence you wrote really has my interest peaked, and with further elaboration from you, I may yet convince her to give hers a "whirl".

No longer do I need to feel deprived of having delicious desserts... HUH?!?

Just what role does this miracle machine play in desserts?!?! PLEASE...DO TELL!!!

I first met VitaMix at the World's Fair in 1964 (I was a mere child), but my parents bought it and they had it for 30 years. It's even better now. enjoy it

Oh, you lucky you! I've been in love with VitaMix for about 30 years. One of the first things I plan on doing when I get my own house is inviting a VitaMix to move in.
