My suggested "prescription" for those of us struggling...

Thursday, January 20, 2011

I've had some SparkFriends mail me that they are struggling with frustration that they've gained and the simple fact that if they reached their goal years ago when they originally thought, life would be so much simpler.

This is what I tell them...

that we've all been there. I lost nearly 60 lbs the past two years but relaxed my determination during my my crazy schedule, 80-hr work weeks and gained all but 14 lbs back.

WE CAN'T LOOK BACK! WE MUST LOOK FORWARD! You may have a fresh start any moment you choose, for this thing that we call "failure" is not the falling down but the staying down!!!

SO... here's my suggested "prescription" for those of us struggling...

"Think excitement, talk excitement, act out excitement, and you are bound to become an excited person. Life will take on a new zest, deeper interest and greater meaning. You can think, talk and act yourself into dullness or into monotony or into unhappiness. By the same process you can build up inspiration, excitement and surging depth of joy. "

Take time today to find THREE THINGS for which you are grateful... maybe it's three things for which you are proud of about yourself. Then tomorrow when you wake up, try to think of those three things... or maybe even three more things and allow those thoughts to motivate you to a successful weekend.

Me...
1. I am grateful that I didn't gain ALL my weight back, I'm still down 14 lbs.
2. I am grateful that THIS TIME I KNOW what to do to get it off, the learning curve is behind me.
3. I am grateful that I am doing this before I get diabetes (which runs in both sides of my family).
4. BONUS: I am grateful that I have a very positive & supportive husband (even though I always want to slap him because weight loss comes easy to him).
