Stress

Sunday, January 23, 2011

I'm a high stress person. I'm always planning things out and not just for the day...for years down the road. In my personal life I have the what if's that lead to worries. In my work I have the too much to do in too little time. I'm hoping to work on bringing my two stressers down a few levels. I've started doing multiplication tables in my head to change my ever running mind when it takes off. I read before bed so I dream of that instead of running through what I have to do or scenario's that get me reved up. The deep breathes helps too. Logging everything into SparkPeople helps with my cumpulsive planning and organizing.

Hi Jenny! Welcome to Spark!! You've found a wonderful supportive community that will be here with you for every step of your journey! I joined Spark last January & then found that "life" got in the way of me finding the time to Spark. What I didn't realize (because I didn't get THAT involved during my first start) is how helpful of a place it really is!! It will be there for you on whatever level you need it to be. Thanks for sharing your tips on stress relief when the brain takes off!! I might have to try that, but I fear I might do nothing but multiplication tables all day!! I really get the concept of being spread WAY too thin!! ARGH!!! I wish you luck on your journey here. Big hugs to you & prayers for your healing on the loss of your little one...

Welcome to Spark People! I'm also here on Kymm's recommendation.
    So sorry for your loss.
Kudos to you for finding what works to help you manage your stress. As you add exercises to your program, that will help, too, more than you can imagine.
Yoga is magnificent for calming both the mind and the body at the same time - if you check out a class, look for one that emphasizes pranayama (the breathing practices).

Another resource is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) This is a technique that uses tapping on specific points to move and release emotional energy. There's even an EFT team here on Spark People!

Blessings to you on your journey!

I'm so sorry for you loss. My friend Kymm, suggested I add you as my friend. She's such a sweetie. I also use math as a sleep aid, you're not alone. I also listen to podcasts for weight loss before I go to sleep, to program myself to change on a deeper level.

Welcome to spark! You have found an awesome place. The support here is amazing.

I am very sorry for the loss of your son. I can't even imagine how tough that would be. Reach out in anyway that you need and ask for help here!

I'm an emotional eater learning to deal with my stress in ways that don't involve food. It is so hard! I have to take life one minute at a time very often in order to not tumble again.

    You can do it!

So important to decrease your stress level. I have had success with hypnosis relaxation cds. They help me to relax at a deeper level than just breathing exercises.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. One of my boys had a tumor removed from his head in 2005 and he has had over 20 surgeries since then. It took me a couple of years to "come down" from that initial experience. I was so wound up. Sometimes it is easier to become high stress and compulsive than to grieve and cry and feel vulnerable.

One thing that has helped me is to have faith. Not necessarily faith in God or religion, but faith that my life will be ok- that things will work out.

    Take care. Kymm
