Love Mother Nature

Monday, January 31, 2011

While at the ranch yesterday there was a Red Tailed Hawk, flying over some trees, and the hills, looking for food. It would let out a screech now and then, dove down real fast, came back up, then flew in circles again. This is the area the Hawk was in.

I was wondering if this was the same Hawk that flew right past the car a few days ago, and landed not far from me. Not only once, but twice. What a beautiful bird. I just love watching them.

On the way home we saw two Peregrine Falcons. They aren't as big as the Hawk, but still a beautiful bird, and a nice size bird. We have one that lands in our front yard.

I wonder what tomorrow will bring!

Beautiful bird. In our local news paper they printed a picture that a man took after pulling over off the highway because he seen a tree with 11 bald eagles sitting in it. There were adult birds and juvenile birds just sitting in the tree, it was really neat.

Gorgeous, majestic birds! Whenever I hear the cry of a hawk, I look up, and sometimes I see an adult flying with a juvenile. A hawk in miniature. I always feel grateful to see them! Great blog, Jeanne!

    beautiful!
we scared an eagle one day while it was hunting and if flew up in front of us and dropped its catch from about 30 feet. a beautiful little baby bunny! the bunny was very stunned, but alive. so of course we had to take it home and nurse it back to health. a few days later we let the bunny go and he moved in to an abandon rabbit hole in our front yard!

Wow - how neat to have Peregrines right in your yard! We had a visit by a Great Horned Owl in December, just at dusk. He was eying the pet bunny rabbits in the yard next door! Didn't get them, but we could tell he was considering it. Enjoy!

We heard the sandhill cranes fly over our yard the other day and saw an eagle flying over head, too! I have actually fed them in my front yard. WE live right next to land preserves and forests! I love birds! We take crackers and bread with us everywhere and feed seagulls or ducks, whatever we see out there. Yesterday at our fave restaurant (which is close to the Gulf of Mexico) about 50 seagulls were just lazing around in the parking lot. We got out a half loaf of bread and as soon as they see you shake that bag - here they come. It is so much fun. They want to catch the food in flight and hover over you. Just hope you don't get pooped on! LOL! Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to more photos from you Jeanne! Nice blog! emoticon

So neat! We have a bird of prey who has recently decided that one of my trees is the perfect place from which to watch over the hunting grounds (the school yard). I love it!

Great blog. My man and I bought 43 acres a few months ago (the seller was in foreclosure... bad for them great for us). My man spots hawks. He has an eagle eye we say. I too am curious what the days/seasons will bring.

I LOVE reading your blog. When I was a teenager, a friend of mine had a red tailed hawk that he trained. I will never forget seeing that bird fly up close!

I love hawks! While on my walk the other day, I had one fly about 10 feet in front of my face. It was awesome! I also wished I had my camera with me that day.
