One day... one victory

the fact that I am entering this blog, nearly a year since my last one should indicate to any friends observing that something VERY bad went wrong in 2010.

The BAD was that I lost my job in January due to cutbacks, and spent the better part of 8 months looking for a new job.

You would think that having all that time on your hands, that I would have spent all day every day working out and getting slim and trim. Not so. It was a struggle each day to motivate myself. I love going to work each day, and the boredom of being home (and seeing my wife have to go to work to support us) was pretty intense. I felt a lot of guilt over those months, and of course, spending hours on the computer, filling out applications, sending resumes, scouring job sites didn't help.

And then there was tearing up my poor shoulder. An already repaired joint that because of an accident during our move, resulted in me having to get it fixed again. And of course, that puts you out for several weeks, and the rehab exercises are anything but aerobic.

So, with so many excuses, I gained back the 35# I had lost and fought to keep off.

Only now am I back working on it. And I am doing pretty well, I have a dream of trying a Biggest Loser week where I limit my calories to 1200 for a day, and where I do a short morning workout, then workout for 2-3 hours in the gym each day. Just to see what I could do.

Going to take a little more success and consistency getting my water, food, and the support of my good wife down before I do it though.

Wish me luck, who wants to die of a heart attack after surviving half a century anyway?
