When our water bill came last month it was at least $15 higher than normal and we were gone for 3 of those weeks. Because of the snow storm they didn't get to read the meter on the assigned date but were 8 days late.
This month our bill is$20 higher so I called the water company. Told me how to go about checking for leaks. Turns out we have a leak between the shutoff valve at the meter and the house.
Called Digger's Hotline for them to mark the front yard before we start digging and to locate the water line to the house so we dig in the right spot.
DH suggested that instead of digging to fix the leak, we just run a new line thru another entry point in the house. If the leak is under our concrete porch there is some BIG EXPENSE involved. He has to stop by the county office and see about the rules and regulations for that.
Meanwhile, it's fill the jugs and buckets and keep the house water turned off till the situation is fixed.
