Busy weekend...

Monday, February 21, 2011

Wow.. I had a busy weekend. Hardly home at all. (I wont rewrite that because I did in forum)

Man I was over on calories Fri-Sun. Mostly in part to my Miller Lite intake. Sheesh. I need to cut that out. Sure we just start the challenge and I fall of the wagon right away.. Great motivational Leader I turned out to be for the first few days. I didnt even post until today in forum.

While I was out yesterday my mom called to tell me my aunt passed away. Was really sad, but mostly felt guilty because I havent seen her since my uncle passed away. I promised myself Id go see her, but time never seemed to allow. Our families have never been close except for when we were little. And then it seemed kinda strained. But when we had our reunion, last spring, we all got along great like we never missed a day together. Times like this make me think life is too short. You need to make the time to see the people you love. Whether it family you have been out of touch with, or friends you havent seen in forever. Because one day they wont b here anymore and then you will be filled with regrets.

So, pick up the phone and make that call you have been putting off. Reach out and tell and old friend or family member you havent seen that you love them today. You never know what will happen in this life. You dont want to be filled with regrets....

I am so sorry about your Aunt. It is so hard to do all we want and some things just get away from us. I appreciate you saying to just pick up the phone and make those calls you've been meaning to do. I called a few people today that I should have visited but never made it. Great advice.

New week, new chance for a great Spark week. I know you can do it!!

Mippy, I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your aunt. You are right....life can change in an instant and we need to take advantage of every moment to make sure that we tell our family and friends how important they are to us and that they are loved. Hugs and prayers to you and your family emoticon

Sorry for your loss, but also that you are feeling guilt. Things usually work out the way they are supposed to and your own little family must have needed to come first.

You had your Millers, I had some brownies. It happens. It was a weekend-romance that is being put on the back burner (temporarily) until the right moment in time to revisit. Until then, we keep doing what we do best.

Aww, Maria, you're saying that life sometimes gets in the way of best laid plans?!!! No surprise! The best thing about Spark People is that we're always here for each other. Sometimes you can't be on the board because of a busy life, and sometimes it's like you're living in your computer! No worries - besides, this challenge is 8 weeks long! Plenty of time to catch up!

I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. It seems like such a final moment... I guess it is. You've given a great reminder to not take anyone or anything for granted, and to know that you may only have a short moment to do or say something. I send you prayers, friend!

That is very sad about your aunt...so sorry for your loss. You are right, a person does need to say what they need to say to a person before it is too late. Don't put off til tomorrow what you should do today. And that goes with everything in life including weight. Thanks for sharing this important reminder. Remember the good times and try not to regret too much. I missed you by the way! So glad you are back and you are a great motivational leader Maria. Hope you have a happy and healthy day! Keep your spirits up!

    Hugs,
    Jen

emoticon to hear of your loss. emoticon Thank you, I am calling my Grandmother to see how she is doing right now.

Just say "no" to the beer. I enjoy beer, not many "lite" versions. I just start telling myself that it is no longer in my budget and that helps (me!). But it is a treat that I do allow from time to time.

I am going to watch my calories today and hope you do the same "Just for today"! emoticon emoticon

I'm sorry about your aunt. One of my aunts passed away one month ago today. She was my favorite aunt as a kid and we still saw each other every week, although she grew very synical and the relationship was a bit more strained as I tried not to enter the same downward spiral. She lived with my mom and another aunt. Two weeks later, the other aunt who lives with my mom was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. My aunt Molly (the one recently diagnosed) was like a second mother growing up and has always been close to me. Your blog reminds me to make sure that I get to visit my grandmother who has alzheimers and my dad on my days off this week. I have been meaning to get over to visit for three months now...Life is too short.
    Thank you for the reminder.
