The challenge for today was to read a motivational article and post a blog. I am assuming the blog needs to at least mention the article, so the link above is the article I read. It talks about rewards to get results. It says to reward the BEHAVIOR you want, not the result on the scale.
I have not been able to follow much of any kind of plan as of late, so I do not know what the reward would be.
I have recently recommitted to God (as you read in my last blog) and am spending time daily in His word and in prayer to Him. I think that doing that IS the reward really, like it rewards itself, if that makes sense? I feel better after doing so and I feel closer to God and my day goes better, etc..., so the "reward" automatically follows that. I only missed one day last week and I caught up on that yesterday. So, to go from hit and miss and many many days of nothing to reading and praying 6/7 days, is a huge improvement! It is hard to describe the peace I have felt just by implementing this back into my life. So, daily bible reading and prayer is something I want to continue in my life. I just need to get better at getting up early and getting it done, so that the rest of my day does not threaten that time.
Now, I just need to add something else. I usually start with water, but I am sick of doing that, it seems like a worn out, ineffective thing for me, as I have overused it?? Does that make sense? It used to work, but now it doesn't. A dear friend bought and sent me 4 exercise tapes probably over a year ago. On one of them, it has you start with 5 minutes, then 10, then 15 and so on until you work yourself up to 30 minutes. It has alot of flexibility work in it and stretching and since I have not really exercised since my accident Nov. 2009, I really need some flexibility. Basically, I just need to MOVE! To be honest, I have been so lazy since I finished student teaching, that my body is sore from sitting and laying so much and it is begging to be moved! SO, this week, I am going to start with 5 minutes/day. If I do more than that, then it is just icing on the cake, but the commitment is for 5 minutes of INTENTIONAL exercise. It may not sound like much, but my mind cannot wrap around much else right now, and I want to set myself up for success.
Now, how to reward that behavior? Not sure, but I am thinking about getting a book from our church library to read for pleasure as I have not been able to read for pleasure for MONTHS!!! Then, after and only after I do my exercise for the day am I free to read the book. I have to be careful to not get so engrossed that all I want to do is devour the book though. Any suggestions on that?
Now, for today, here is a list of some things I need to do and I will come back to update later:
