"Classic" Start page to be phased out March 31 - provide suggestions for new Start here

Hi everyone

To keep the site running more efficiently, we plan to phase out the "Classic" or old version of our Start page on March 31.

As part of this, on February 23 we automatically moved members on the Classic Start page to our new Start page. The reason was that we found that many members did not know about the new Start page, and many many older members have really liked making the switch. However, up until March 31 you can use a link on your Start page to change back to the Classic page page until March 31.

We are setting the date out a few weeks so that we have time to make any adjustments to the new Start page, based on member feedback. So if you have any feedback on the new Start page, please leave it in the comments below. We have already made a few tweaks to the new Start page, such as having a link to Favorites.

As always, thanks for your support and feedback!

I love EVERYTHING about the new start page. So much more intuitive and efficient!

Oh no, what have you done. I liked seeing my friends latest posts. I'd even gotten used to the wheel popping up when I logged in. This is a change I'm not happy about. I liked having things visible and quite frankly, I'd like one thing in my life to stay the same. I've had enough change and drama in my family life in the last year and have remained faithful to my pledge to stick w/ SP, but this smarts...

I'm not happy with the new start page at all and have already returned to the classic page for as long as I can get it. Really feel the layout of the classic was better and it contained the information that was important to me.

I am particularly upset about not having the listing of my recent posts on the start page. It's the first thing I look at when I log on, to see if anybody has posted since my last visit. I don't want to have to click and click to reach this information. It's the friendships I've made on my regular threads that keep me coming back again and again.

Would be nice if we could customize our start page to include the sections we want. I've been a Spark Member for many years, but when this change becomes permanent I doubt that I'll be visiting daily as I do now.

what I object to is having my calories posted on my page - even though I believe no one but me can see it? I don't mind having my goals up there, but I don't like having my calorie count staring me in the face. I prefer the classic too & wish we could have the option of keeping it.

Bad idea IMO! The classic has more useful info at our fingertips. Who cares about that giant spark point and trophy graphic taking up space on the new layout? Give us easy to use one click navigation that we can personalize instead of the generic endless clicking to get to our stuff. I don't want to click all over the place to get to my favorites! We use that function to set bookmarks to the team threads we visit countless times every day. It is bad enough that we lost all of that while viewing our teams! The more generic and harder it is to use the site the less I want to participate. Privacy is also a huge problem. Sparks needs to give us more choices who can share our information...bunch of you know what that anyone who can see my blogs can share them with the entire web. Very insensitive to us with "fatty scars"

Oh, and Curbee, on the new layout, you can find the Fitness Maps under the "Healthy Lifestyle" section, then under the "Fitness" menu. It is in the middle section under "Fitness Features", just a few from the top.

You can also find a button to "Map Your Route" on the Fitness Tracker page that takes you to the Fitness Maps.

Hope that is what you were referring to and I hope this helps!

It would be nice if we could have a way to define what we want on the homepage. If you gave a list of "widgets" we could add or subtract from our own Start Page, it would make the site user specific and help people who might get overwhelmed by all of the features. Also, it would be nice to have a friends list or a way to move between the Start page and SparkPages for efficiently. With Facebook and myspace being so friend geared, it seems a little more difficult to navigate and keep up with your friends on SP. I know there is a side bar with recent Friend's posts, but it only lists a few and I tend to only look through those :/ Is there a way to combine the Start page and the personal SparkPage? Now, THAT would be awesome.

I love the "My Personalized Programs" section on the new layout. It is so helpful and keeps my focused and on track!

I like having the "My Goals & Progress" section, too, to get that quick snapshot of how I'm doing. I would love to have a way to update my other goals on that page, instead of having to navigate to a different page.

I like the changes and definitely like the direction the site is going on. Thank you for doing what you can to help us reach our goals! We *heart* SP!

I could not find my saved fitness maps on the new start page, so I have switched to the old page for now. Does anyone know where the saved fitness maps are located on the new page?

I had looked at the new page but returned to the classic because the new one is missing the display of fitness minutes which is in 2 places on the classic page (OK I don't need both, but would love to have one). Also I miss the recent message board posts which is on the old page. I also I don't like the tabs especially since the change automatically.

On the plus side, I do like spark points and trophies being displayed on the start page.

I can't seem to find the spark fitness minutes on the new page. (unless I'm missing something) Please put it on there!

I prefer the Classic page because it allows you to see your total SparkPoints and it links quickly to points-earning activities.

I like the improvements and the new look however, I prefer the classic view. I need to learn how to get my points on the new view.

I tried the NEW Spark page for a couple of days. I wasn't too comfy with it. I figured I just need to get used to it. Now this morning I can't find "Play Trivia". On spark Teams I can't find the list of lieaders. I know there is a drop down with options and it wasn't there. I'm just toos et in my old ways. Can you teach this old dog new tricks?

I did try it & still prefer the old page; there are things I use daily that I don't see on the new page or that require more clicks (with CTS, less clicks is better for me):

    Fitness Maps
    SparkRecipes.com
    Fitness Minutes

Also, fitness maps functionality in general could use some additions, like the ability sort the stored maps, for example.

I don't like the new page so I went back to the classic page as well. I agree with some of the others about it not showing you the most recent posts on the board which I use all the time. I wish we had the option to stay on the old page or go to the new one. The new one is very tedious and more clicking on buttons!

I tried the new start page before and didn't like it, so i went back to classic. I like the classic page being able to see 3 or 4 of my recent message board posts right there and also being able to see my top spark teams right there.

I'm with CMA444. I need my most recent message board activity on my start page.

I use my Spark Favorite links on a daily basis and now I have to make an extra click (which yes I know sounds silly) in order to use them. I would really appreciate it if you could have that back on the start page along with CMA444 suggestion....

The only thing that I HATE about the new page is that it doesn't show your most recent message board activity like the classic page does. That is a must in my book.

Just a couple of little things:
I would love to be able to turn off the auto switching of the features like we can do with auto scrolling of the huddle/blogs on team pages. with the tabs it is easy enough to see each item but the constant movement is distracting and potentially slowing to computers, also when I have a headache, it is very troublesome.
The other thing is that it would be nice if the View my Sparkpage link was in another color or a bolder font...for some reason I have days when I just don't easily find this...maybe this is sillybut it would just be easier.
Thanks for always looking for ways to improve!
