I felt extremely stressed and negative yesterday, and was awakened by the phone this morning with news that a co-worker/friend's spouse passed away during the night. He was a lovely man with a gentle soul, and was only 57 years old.

Terrible news does force you to put things in perspective. Our days are numbered, so why not make the best of each moment. It really doesn't pay to "sweat the small stuff". As I ponder this, I realize that work related stress is "small stuff" in the grand scheme of things. Getting stressed does not change the situation. Unfortunately, as an educator, I have always aimed for "the A+" in everything that I do. I need to work on letting go of trying to be perfect, and I need to focus more on taking small steps to improve my health and life ; I need to put more energy into enjoying the important things in life.

Today, I will do a favorite Leslie Sansone DVD for 33 minutes. I will do some chores, relax to re-charge myself, and enjoy some quality time with loved ones!

So sorry to hear of your co-worker/friend's loss, but when things like this happen it does make us stop and think, none of us know when our time here on earth will be over and how are we using that time. Praying for your friend that she'll have the care and support that she's going to need in the days ahead.

One day at time! Take more me time too-even if it is only 15 minutes! Stress can be a big thing if you let it! Hang in there! Sorry to hear about the loss of your co worker. Stay focused and don't give up! In the battle of the bulge we are all soldiers! emoticon
