He ate, he actually did!!

I provide daycare for my 3 grandchildren on a daily basis, but only have 1 all day long 2 days a week. He goes to preschool 3 days and I pick him up at 1:15PM.. Mom and Dad don't get home until 6:30PM or so.

The two days that I actually feed him a full meal I serve him what we eat , veggies included.
The standard answer any small child gives is "I don't like that" even before they try it.
I told him he would get a reward if he tried the steamed "cabbage" on his plate. Took a bite, made a face. Told him he should try another bite just to make sure if he liked it. He said it was crunchy. Ate several more bites and said, "I LIKE IT". Had it all on cell phone video so I could show my daughter another of his accomplishments.

We also had red potatoes, carrots and kosher corned beef (low sodium). He thought the meat was ham. He ate most of the veggies and all of the meat.

For me the total calories was 360, which included 8oz of FF milk(90 cal). Meal was very filling.

emoticon There is no "award" that would cause me to taste steamed cabbage or cabbage in any other way. Glad he liked it. Wish I did.

Well, congratulations. Sounds like a real victory! My youngest grandson was VERY hard in this area. Finally, he's 8 now, he's trying more things. It's been extremely gradual, but it's happening. So I truly understand the beauty of how you handled it, and of your success. BRAVA!

You are such a great Grandma. Just think: you got the little guy to eat something healthy that he probably wouldn't have tried normally. Good for You!
