I don't do “Diets” and I don't like exercising!

I don't do “Diets” and I don't like exercising. I prefer to sit with my feet up watch TV and eat.
That said, I have diabetes, I'm considered obese (I hate that word), I'm stiff and sore, have a good risk of heart failure, but that's ok as long as I can eat and don't have to do anything! Am I insane? Yes, quite possibly!

I have not bothered to do anything to fix the above issues, stating emphatically that “I refuse to try anything unless it is proven to work” (cuz why bother) Pointing out that mom & sister did the yo yo thing most of their lives and that just looked painful (and like too much effort).

The fact that I could die from weight related issues, that my knees are giving out from the load they have to carry, is not enough to make me consider better choices. In the past the answer was NO! I don't feel like I may have a heart attack! So why worry about it.

I have never overexercised, starved, or purged. I have binged. I called it reward, deserved or clean up so I could do the dishes.

I have come to the realization that enough is enough! I am ready to take responsibility for my health. I am powerless over my obsessive/compulsive eating behaviours and activity (or lack of). I need a lot of help and I am willing to ask for it, finally.

You know the drill. Do the same thing, get the same results. One of the things that I've learned in the last year is that a walk or a 1/2 hour stretching goes a long way toward easing the aches... in the process, I've gained some strength and actually want to go for a walk! It's a long process, as a few years ago, getting me to walk anywhere was impossible. I don't to diets either, but I'm focusing on the simple things I can do: drink more water, take my vitamins, sleep well, walk a bit more... and it's working. I hate slow and easy... I want big changes NOW! But that's not how this works. I hope you'll keep in touch and share your ES&H!
