Mom, Super Recycler!

I was proceeding to throw out my pill bottles, when Mom said no, recycle them. She has boxes set aside for glass, paper, cardboard and plastic. She even takes the labels off everything she can and washes them out! She gets NOTHING for this trouble. No renumeration and has to use her own gas to transport them to the recycling area!! It drives me a little batty washing everything, and I even cut my hand on the sharp tin edge once, but I am proud Mom does her part for the environment!! Her veggie cuttings and what not go to feed the rabbit and fox..
I recycle paper, milk cartons and tin as my building collects those, and I wash my glass jars and put them out and they usually disappear quickly. How are you with doing your part for our earth?

Was another gorgeous day and loved the sunshine and warmth! Walked to and from my physiotherapy for 90 minutes of walking. I love being on the trail, its prime dog watching time! Saw a pitbull terrier, weimeraner, beautiful brindle mastiff, Shih Tzu, heinz 57, pug cross, just a whole bunch of fur babies !
Lots of people out, joggers, bikers, families with strollers, even teenagers were out walking!!
Good sleeps all and have a fantastic Saturday!!

    In our last house when it came time to replace the old dented faded aluminum siding with easy-breezy vinyl siding, instead of letting the company take it and throw it in a landfill, we removed it and hauled it in to a recycler. The price of aluminum at that time was very low, so it wasn't worth it from a financial standpoint, but it was good exercise!
    We don't generate a lot of trash; we recycle paper, cans, glass, plastic, batteries...we're fortunate to live in a community that makes it easy.

    Our garbage service just gave us a recycling can so I'll be starting. I should have already been doing it...

    It was beautiful out here today and I worked in the yard and used my fire pit for the first time.

    I'm blessed that my city collects recycling each week. The county has a yard waste site and collects woody debris, trees, branches, etc, not lumber.

    When available we can pick up compost and woodchips for free. We are doing our best for the planet.

    We are also no longer permitted to burn our leaves in the fall..................

    we have aspecial wheelie bin to put all the recylable products in and a truck cames it picks it p once a fortnight, one for green waste and another for garbage bin.

    I think our household is the biggest recycler in the neighborhood! Fortunately, though, we DO have a pickup service provided by our Homeowners Assoc. I admire your mom for actually transporting it as well!

    I loved your description of your walk, and all the fur babies you encountered! Sounds like it was a fun time.

    Linda, recycling has NOT taken hold here in TX, and it drives me crazy! You remember the trash I picked up along the highway? Well, it's rampant here, and I hate it! When I go to Chicago to see my daughter, it's so cool to see all the receptacles for recycling... nothing like that here! Way to go to your mother! I know I would love her if I met her! emoticon

    Funny blog tonight, considering when DD and I were at Sweet tomatoes, she proceeds to dump out her purse, full of receipts from the stores. She piles them to be tossed , and I said. "I recycle all mine" emoticon I rarely put out my trash can, I recycle so much. YUP , doing my part. HARD when I work, so much stuff tossed that could be recycled, but NOT from a hospital, HEAVES...GERMS EEEKKK!

    SO HAPPY you and your fellows there are enjoying sunshine again. I am sure the day was still COLD by our standards, course with the ferocious wind today, temps are dropping into the 50's tonight. Our "swan song" before the heat comes, which will be it!

    WAY TO GO on the recycling. We do the same also!! I would love to be walking with you. You always run across the neatest things. We have a few dogs in our area but nothing like what you are seeing. We will soon be having more people on our trails though...still seems a bit cold for most people. I just throw on a sweatshirt and before long I am working up a sweat. Walk back home and do my cool down and stretching.
