As if "Biopsy" wasn't scary enough...

Friday, April 15, 2011

So, as if the word "Biopsy" isn't scary enough... when I went to Wednesday's doctor to schedule a colonoscopy, she said, "Wow! Your blood pressure is WAY UP, are you experiencing chest pains!?"

Sheesh... I've never been this scared!

Fortunately, when I went Thursday to the gyno for the endometrean biopsy, my blood pressure had dropped 20 pts but it is still too high.

-- Colonoscopy is to determine the source of the pain I'm experiencing.
-- Thursday's Biopsy was to determine whatever it is they saw in my uterine wall.

Two unrelated things (that we know of) that caused a domino-affect of tests... I felt unusual pain which led to ultrasound tests that showed something totally unrelated to the pain. So I was sent to "examine" my intestines also.

After Thursday's biopsy, my doctor told me "there WILL be more procedures so prepare your schedule..." but she wouldn't elaborate until she sees the results from the biopsy (the Doctor will call with the results by next Wed or Thurs.)

Now, I've google-searched "holistic ways to lower blood pressure" because I really don't like taking medication and much of the foods they recommend aren't good for my PCOS body-type (beans, white potatoes, bananas, etc.)

Can my body become any more complicated!? Sheesh! I've always been so dang healthy!

TODAY is a new day! I will DO what I can:
-- EXERCISE as much as my time will allow
-- make the healthiest choices I can
-- Keep and eye on SODIUM
-- DRINK my water
emoticon Have a GREAT week, Everybody... emoticon stay strong!

It's no wonder your blood pressure is up. You are like a pot of boiling water, bubbling over with worries. I have high blood pressure, under control, with drugs. Stay away from sodium. Exercise. And DON"T WORRY. Eliminating extra pounds will also help with your blood pressure. Just keep plugging away, kiddo.
Prayers for good news from the doc's.

Camille -BEET JUICE has been shown to lower blood pressure as effectively as a medication for high blood pressure.

Here is an article I did based on the research...

Also Vitamin D & Omega 3 also help to lower blood pressure.

With the stress and concern over the tests and pain, that is enough alone to raise your blood pressure so I would think they would wait until things calm down for you a bit before medication for high blood pressure is considered....

    Hugs & prayers continuing!!!

Man oh man sorry to hear you are going through this. I will be praying for you.

As for the colonoscopy, I agree, the procedure is painless but prep is the bad part. For me the worst was the taste of the prep fluid.

Hibiscus tea has been shown to reduce blood pressure in many people.

You're in my thoughts, hon. I don't envy you the colonoscopy. Though it's the prep work for that that's worse than the procedure (as Steph mentioned). Which hospital are you going to for it? (Just nosiness there. emoticon ) But seriously, you're in ALL of our thoughts over here in our home. emoticon emoticon

My personal experience with colonoscopy (had to have one kinda young due to intestinal issues), was that the prep was kinda hellish (I lost like 6lbs that week when I went to weight watchers) but the actual procedure was painless and went by extremely quickly (due to the drugs). .For what it's worth, you sound like you are doing amazingly well with all of this. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Praying for you Camille! HUGS for you too. But like you said, you just have to be strong, do what you can, focus on doing all the right, healthy things for yourself and let God take care of you. Always in my thoughts....
