Bootcamp and Walk/Jog

Thursday, April 28, 2011

I've been pretty lazy about blogging lately. That doesn't mean I've fallen off the wagon though. There have been some close calls, but I've managed to eat somewhat healthy and get in some exercise.

On Tuesday, I started both the Spring Into Shape Bootcamp Challenge, www.sparkpeople.com/mysp

, and the 5K Your Way Walk/Jog Training Program, www.sparkpeople.c

. I've never used running or jogging as a form of exercise before, and thought I'd give it a shot. I was worried that I wasn't fit enough yet to be able to jog for the full minute called for in the first week. What a great surprise to find out that I could! So much so that I'm actually looking forward to today's walk/jog.

As far as diet, I made today a free day. We had pizza for lunch at work. I will be going over my calories by about 50 if I stick to just a smoothie for dinner after my workout. I will also be going over my on fat and sodium and will be under by 1 in carbs. Not the best, but certainly not the worst I have ever done.

I know I have mentioned before how quickly I get bored by doing the same workouts for long periods of time. It seems that changing my routine about every month has helped me keep exercising. I'm so glad that we have a media center in the exercise room. I have been able to use the SP Fitness Videos, Exercise TV and my own collection of fitness videos to add variety to my workouts.

Good going! I'm learning that even with some days better, some worse, as long as you keep the eye on the ball, you're good. Looks like you're making good progress. Congrats!
