If you're a Mother, Grandmother, or Auntie I hope you've had a wonderful day.
The rest is a quickie blog - covering my 10K today. We've been so busy since Riley arrived, and hardly home, I know and shamedly admit I'm behind on your blogs and notes. Do forgive me - I'll be catching up soon, promise!
Today was the Cinco de Mayo Half Marathon, 10K, and 5K. Courtney and I did the 10K, and Bill did the 5K. Well, Courtney and I did the same race, but the girl is in a running class far and beyond me LOL She rocked it in a fantastic 56 minutes!
Bill did splendid as well. I felt bad running off from him in the opposite direction, but it was ok, he understood LOL We're waiting for official results, but we think he managed to shave off 3-4 minutes from his last 5K.
Me? I did alright as well. My last (and first!) 10K, I ran 6 mi in 1:23. Today, I ran 6.25 in 1:23 again - only a quarter mile further. Go figure! I'm basing this on Garmin time/distance of course. We haven't gotten official results yet.
A few snaps, taken by Tim, our step-ex-wife's S.O.
I love that we do these things together. Courtney, as fast as she is, is always so supportive and waits for us old dogs to finish up LOL
I look like I'm walking? Pfffft. I'm running! Slowly! But running!
Finish time. It took a few minutes to reach the starting line, so I'm thinking my Garmin is pretty accurate! Yay me! Improvement, no matter how small, is positive forward motion. Love it!
This time, I feel much better physically. Last 10K, I felt wiped out, completely, afterward. This time, I feel human, and I'm grateful - it means my endurance is increasing, and that's what I want/need. We've made a simple dinner of turkey meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Quick and easy was exactly what we needed.
We'll rest up tonight, and head back down to Salem tomorrow. Lindsay and Riley will be going home, so we want to see him in his natural environment. And change his clothes a dozen times to make sure he wears some of the MANY outfits Granny and Mimi (step-ex-wife Laure) have gotten him LOL
I hope you've all had a great day, and here's to a great week to come!
