I got over my slump

Thursday, May 26, 2011

I have been in a real funk for the past 2-3 weeks. I wasn't tracking my food, I stopped coming on SP and chatting with my friends and I wasn't exercising. I have been going through so much lately. This year already I have participated in 3 weddings, 3 baby showers and countless bridal showers and bachelorette parties. Also I had 2 deaths of close family friends and I am in the middle of a job change. Are these all excuses? No, that is LIFE!!

While we are on this weight-loss journey there are going to be some hurdles that we are going to have to jump. We may clear those hurdles and be just fine. We may snag our foot on the hurdle or we may fall all together. The key is that we keep on going. I am the poster child for starting and stopping something but the difference this time is that even though I did stop for those 2-3 weeks. I didn't give up completely. I am still here and I am still fighting for myself. I am worth the effort. Of course, I wanna focus on the fact that I wasted time and the fact that I could've lost more weight. But where is that going to get me? Instead, I am focused on today.

What is causing this difference? Well, two things. My wonderful, awesome, supportive, encouraging and positive friends on Sparkpeople. If it wasn't for this site I don't know if I would ever start my weight-loss journey. But now, I have a goal. I have the drive and most importantly I have hope. I have hope that even when I fall, I can get back up. I can move forward. I am not going back to my old life.

The second thing is the awesome team that I am on for BLC 16 called The Orange Alpha Tigers. These group of women are my life-saver. They REFUSED to let me give up on myself. They were constantly checking up on me and that means more than they will know. You can't buy support like this in any store. Thank you so much.

So don't let life set you back. We can't control the unforeseen setbacks in our lives. Trust me, you are going to have setbacks. That is just how life works but make a promise to yourself that you will never put yourself aside. Don't put your goals, dreams and wants aside. You deserve this and I know that I deserve this too.

I tried to join BLC but it was so confusing I gave up. Im interested in using spark for support like you have seem to found but most of the friends I have added on here seem to disappear for months at a time. Thank you for giving me some insight and motivation today!

Glad you are back! Glad you checked on me too cuz I thought you were on my friend list but...I just figured out you were not. That problem has been corrected!!!

I am a poster child for quitting things too - a thing of my past. We can both do this! Sounds like you have a very supportive group and that is half the battle!

You are doing so awesome on your weight loss - keep it up!
