Da roof, da roof, da roof is on fayah!

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Ok, so maybe not too many roofs are on fire right now, but dangit! Everything else is! Even with the torrential downpour that occurred the other day, it's still smoky! Everyone's asthma is flaring up, including mine. Even with the air conditioning on recirculation, smoke is still getting into houses and businesses. I remember only one other time it was this bad, and even in 1998 I really don't think things were this bad here. Everyone, please pray for the firefighters who are working 17 hours straight for days straight. Please pray for all those families without homes. Please pray for rain. Our rain dances have worked for the one day of rain, but we still need more emoticon
One last thought, puhleeze, everyone! Do not throw cigarette butts out the window. If you have to throw fireworks for the Fourth emoticon watch them carefully! And, most of all, please make sure your charcoal grills and campfires are completely put out before you leave them! emoticon

Sorry to hear about all the people that have lost their everything in the fires. We get your smoke down in Bradenton so we are aware of you sitting in the charring ruins of the area. It is really sad to think that everyone is having so many problems with fires right now. It was suppossed to rain here last night and a little T-storm was expected to come through yesterday, today, and tomorrow. So far, everything has been north of us. We can hear the rummbling thunder slightly, but we can't see any lightening and we only got a spitting of rain yesterday and none today. The sky is hazy because of the smoke, but it was so hot today. One of those days where you don't go barefoot, don't stay out in it for much longer than a couple minutes, and you sweat just breathing. It sure causes asthma for me.

Be safe and keep sparkling. emoticon emoticon

emoticon emoticon for the advice! My dad is a retired fire fighter although we live in new england and he never had to deal with forest fires of that magnitude he has been to a few "good ones" in his life time and there is no excuse for stupidity! Like Smokey says "only you can prevent forest fires!"

emoticon My rain dance for you.

We evacuated for a wildfire that came to the edge of our yard three years ago. I feel for you.

Thank you guys! Not in AZ, we're in Northeast Florida. There were over a hundred fires last week all within the metro area (the places that get our local news stations anyway). This week there are "only" 65 within 8-10 counties. The Okefenokee is the big one. Three fires within the Park. Crazy, hazy, smoky!

My cousin lives in Springerville. She left town when they evacuated but her husband, a retired forest ranger, stayed behind. They are safe but the air quality is worrisome.

Adding my voice to the prayer request - are you in northern AZ?
