running has been delayed

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I am being treated better than a thorough bred. Last Sat. I ran a 10k, then went to help my son earn money for his Boy Scout fund, by cleaning the local area racetrack. The boys get $150 and the pop/beer can returns. So a kid can earn about $20 an hour for very lite work. The guys earn more if they have more people.

Klutzy me slipped and fell twisting my ankle very badly. My husband is an Orthopedic PA, so he had my ankle back in place and taped within 15 minutes of injury; my laying in the back of the van with ice on the site when we arrived in the ER, I went right to Radiology to ensure no broken bones or cracks.

I have been iced, heat therapy, and properly taped since. Water therapy starts today. Whoa this treatment has my head spinning. But the doctor says that I will be ready for the marathon on Aug 13. He wants me to run a slow mile in three days. Then we will evaluate the joint to ensure the ATFL and ACL are stable enough for me to start back on 3 miles daily.

Unbelievable that the right treatment quickly applied makes all the difference in the world to how fast things turn around.
