Perked Up

So, I was feeling a little a little down after my last weigh in and working on getting my spirits up. I have been reading blogs and working the site, and it has helped, but something said by a co-worker eventually made my day.

A couple of co-workers started running together a few weeks ago. One of them was telling a third co-worker about how they get together and the route they run. They run about five miles and are up to 12 minute miles. Beside the fact that I have always hated running, I CAN'T run. Four years ago I ruptured the tendon that supports the arch of my left foot. The repair included putting in three titanium screws to help keep the arch supported. Running could damage the repair. But I felt a little jealous any way.

That evening I went for my walk. I got home and entered my mileage and time, and was very surprised to see I averaged 17 minutes per mile! I can't run, but I have gained enough stamina and speed to be just 5 minutes slower than two runners!

So, even without weight loss, there is improvement.
