I re-commited to the gym this week and now I am up 2 pounds :( NOOOOOO! Ughhhh... I am going to stick with it because I know I haven't done anything to warrant the gain. It's just really discouraging :( I was hoping all the cardio would have the opposite effect. Patience.. right?

Do not panic - the weight gain is a GOOD thing because it means you've gained muscle and there's probably a bit of water retention in the muscle fibres too. It will balance out soon enough. When I joined the gym and started strength training I was up 2.2 pounds and it's welllll gone now. Unless you've consumed 3500 calories over and above your daily base level it's NOT fat.

I know it is a bit discouraging to see the numbers up but, in this case, it's a good thing.

Keep up the hard work and you WILL see the results - you're doing really well emoticon

Argh, that's so annoying! I hate it when that happens!
But the only good side is that you probably gained some muscle!
Make sure you are drinking enough water too! Dehydration can lead to your body holding on to extra weight.
