What a Great Week

I have been stuck in my weightloss for the past several month. I'll lose 5 pounds and then gain it back. A few of us at work were talking last week about how we need more motivation and accountability. So we all decided that we would try the South Beach Diet together. I've never been a huge fan of diets that don't allow you to eat a certain food, but I really needed something to help me get past this rut I've been in. We started this past Monday and so far this week I have lost 4 pounds. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to stick to and I would start craving sweets and carbs, but so far I'm doing really well. There are threee phases of the South Beach Diet and the first phase lasts for two weeks. Then the second phase you slowly start to add carbs back into your diet, which is good for me because I started half marathon training yesterday and I know I will need those carbs to keep me going. The first two weeks of the training is pretty easy because it's pretty much what I've already been doing. It's the third week and beyond when it will begin to challenge me. Especially when I start to get into the 8-10 mile runs I know I will need to eat a few more carbs to help keep my energy going. For the first time in months I feel like I can do this and I'm seeing results. I'm excited to see what the end result will be.

    Good luck to you! I enjoy the South Beach food, although I've never strictly followed the diet. Have fun training for you 1/2 marathon!!
