As some of my friends who have been around a while know, and those of you who are new are about to find out, I'm a bit obsessed with Hood to Coast - the mother of all relays!
Here's my blog about showing up at one of the exchange points last year and meeting some SparkPeople.
This year, I'm a volunteering on behalf of our Sparkin' Hood to Coast team, and will actually be working Exchange 14 this year. Yay!
Then.. our Coasties and Ghosties HTC team put out a call for more ghosts. Ghosts run the same distance, at the same time, as the Coasties.
I signed up to ghost Matt, Z's husband, Friday evening at 8:17 p.m., for 7.25 miles. I figured I'm supposed to run 11 miles on Saturday with the Tribe anyway, why not simply do it Friday night, with/for Matt?
Here's the leg Matt will be actually running:
Bill and I plan on driving out to Exchange 14 this weekend to get an idea of where we need to be next Friday morning. Then we'll continue on, so I can get a look at Leg 15 to know what Matt will be going through.
As if that's not enough.. and it's NOT LOL I also ordered the Hood to Coast movie on DVD!
It arrived Wednesday! Hooray!
Bill took me to see the movie when it was in theaters back in February, I think it was. Loved it! Totally loved it, and was in awe of the teams and the stories. Fast-forward a couple of weeks and I went to the Galloway Training group run for the first time and met THE Kathy who was featured in the HTC movie.
She is the most awesome lady ever. So sweet, welcoming, and friendly!
I've been fortunate to be able to run a few more runs with her, and to watch her determination and drive to run run run. She'd mentioned that the makers of HTC the movie were doing follow-up interviews with her and the others, so I was looking forward to seeing the new footage.
It did not disappoint! 90 minutes of additional footage - outtakes and deleted scenes from the movie, the follow-up interviews, the making of the movie.. and HTC shout-outs from HTC 2008 and 2010.
I watched the shout-outs last night, and when they showed the shout-outs from 2010 I paid careful close attention. I'm glad I did.
That, my lovelies, is one half of the 2010 Sparkin' HTC team! I recognize Coach Nancy, and Mike. I recognize the other ladies, but do not know their names. That's a picture of them yelling 'go SparkPeople' while the DVD is paused on my TV LOL
Call me nuts (that is, if you haven't already) but I get the feeling that I have a HTC run in my future. Like, for reals. I've talked to a few people here at my work who are on a HTC team (The DEA Lightning Slugs) who are running, and they said there'd be a spot for me on their team next year if I was interested. That's awesome, truly. If I do it, though, I'd totally want to do it with SparkPeople. They.. YOU!!! are the reason I run... are the reason I have this obsession LOL.. are the reason my life has changed completely.
So, forgive me if I seem a bit myopic in the coming week. Seven days. Friday, August 26, 24 runners and countless ghosts will set out on an epic 2-day adventure, united by SparkPeople. I'm going to be a part of that adventure, and I cannot wait.
