All's Well That Ends Well.

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Here I am looking pretty chipper prior to leaving for my colonoscopy exam.
My daughter picked me up at 2:00, we drove down to the hospital.
Since she works there she know exactly were to go..
As soon as we got in the building, everyone was saying hi to her.
She works on the surgical floor, but everyone knows everybody in the hospital, it's like one big family.
I got checked in and taken to the prep room. Got in a gown, had all my IV's and monitors attached and read a magazine article about Indians who settled in Oregon. Very fascinating article.
I was given something to relax me and taken to the surgical room.
Dr. Buck came in , said I was his last patient for the day and hoped I would be not as much a problem as his previous one. Guess they had a twisted colon, hard to see and get around in. . I reminded him that he had an easy time with me last time, of course that was 10 years ago. My how time flies.
I mentioned that I had thought it had only been 4 or 5 years . He said most people think that.
I was looking at the monitor and I heard him talking and then he said have a nice evening and was gone. I don't remember anything of the procedure. Was out like a light.
Went to post op, for 30 minutes, then got dressed and my daughter drove me home.
I have no discomfort. It's like it never happened.
I ate a small dinner. After 3 days of not much food, I was not very hungry.
It seems when you fast after the first 12 hours are past, the appetite diminishes . The hunger seems to leave. Maybe that is how the body copes with starvation..
I m glad the exam is over. Don't have to repeat this for 10 years.
The doctor told my daughter it looked clear, saw nothing that had to have biopsies. So that is good.
The next medical procedure I under go will be my left knee replacement on 9/19/2011, that's a Monday.
I had wanted to go to the gym tonight after I was finished, but my daughter told the nurse and she said NO. No workouts till tomorrow. Darn, I will have to walk n the Nordic track some more tonight get my fitness minutes in and burn up the 667 calories I need to burn on my cardio days.
Took Titan out for a short walk.
The weather is cool for a few days. Then this weekend back in the 80's and 90's.
BF and I are going to the State Fair on Thursday. Picked one of the cool days, better to walk around in. Want to see all the animals and displays. Maybe ride on couple of rides.
I want to thank all my friends who wished me well during this exam period.
Take care, stay positive.
Thought for the day."Every aspect of life has its pluses and minuses. I'll safeguard my chances for happiness if I devote myself to discovering the pluses."
Peace and Love,
Tisha emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good evening Tisha. I'm so glad to see your testing went well and I see you are up for another knee replacement in a few wks. You'll be a pro at this next one because you've already been through it once. I've also had my right knee replaced when I was 48 years old. Very young I know, but had a meniscus rip that never healed correctly even after surgery Was in so much pain x 7 years.. enough was enough and the doc finally agreed.

Have a blessed day.. Enjoy your blogs very much because they are so down to earth. emoticon Donna

So happy to hear all went well, and the unofficial results are good. I guess time really does fly between colonoscopies, huh? I know time has flown for me. I was supposed to have one at 50, and here I am at 60 and have not yet had one. Silly me! Gotta get that scheduled, it's even free through my insurance plan here at work. Hubby disdains having all tests and doesn't really like it when I have them, so that makes it more of a struggle for me than just overcoming my own hesitation. Kinda like the mammogram--hate those too! But I know how important they are. Now that I've done all this work to get healthy, I want to be around for a while. I don't want something else getting in the way of my enjoying life!

Hope you had a good time at the Fair and a wonderful Labor Day weekend. I know I did!

It would be a relief to have that over!! I'm glad you had a great report!

I would love to go to the state fair but it's always too hot here and miserable. I loved it when I have been in the past though.

Good for you! Glad everything checked out fine. I had one a few years ago and have never undergone such an ordeal. The test itself was no problem, but my digestive system did not recover from the cleansing process for about 6 weeks. Not sure I will ever do that again!

I know you are so glad you can wait another 10 years and boy doesn't the time fly by?? I think, like you, that it's been about 4 or 5 years for me but hey, make it's been longet--LOL!! I do remember that the prep is the worse part of the whole ordeal. So glad your results were good and you're active and healthy. Take Care and have fun at the Fair!

    Hugs,
