Here I am looking pretty chipper prior to leaving for my colonoscopy exam.
My daughter picked me up at 2:00, we drove down to the hospital.
Since she works there she know exactly were to go..
As soon as we got in the building, everyone was saying hi to her.
She works on the surgical floor, but everyone knows everybody in the hospital, it's like one big family.
I got checked in and taken to the prep room. Got in a gown, had all my IV's and monitors attached and read a magazine article about Indians who settled in Oregon. Very fascinating article.
I was given something to relax me and taken to the surgical room.
Dr. Buck came in , said I was his last patient for the day and hoped I would be not as much a problem as his previous one. Guess they had a twisted colon, hard to see and get around in. . I reminded him that he had an easy time with me last time, of course that was 10 years ago. My how time flies.
I mentioned that I had thought it had only been 4 or 5 years . He said most people think that.
I was looking at the monitor and I heard him talking and then he said have a nice evening and was gone. I don't remember anything of the procedure. Was out like a light.
Went to post op, for 30 minutes, then got dressed and my daughter drove me home.
I have no discomfort. It's like it never happened.
I ate a small dinner. After 3 days of not much food, I was not very hungry.
It seems when you fast after the first 12 hours are past, the appetite diminishes . The hunger seems to leave. Maybe that is how the body copes with starvation..
I m glad the exam is over. Don't have to repeat this for 10 years.
The doctor told my daughter it looked clear, saw nothing that had to have biopsies. So that is good.
The next medical procedure I under go will be my left knee replacement on 9/19/2011, that's a Monday.
I had wanted to go to the gym tonight after I was finished, but my daughter told the nurse and she said NO. No workouts till tomorrow. Darn, I will have to walk n the Nordic track some more tonight get my fitness minutes in and burn up the 667 calories I need to burn on my cardio days.
Took Titan out for a short walk.
The weather is cool for a few days. Then this weekend back in the 80's and 90's.
BF and I are going to the State Fair on Thursday. Picked one of the cool days, better to walk around in. Want to see all the animals and displays. Maybe ride on couple of rides.
I want to thank all my friends who wished me well during this exam period.
Take care, stay positive.
Thought for the day."Every aspect of life has its pluses and minuses. I'll safeguard my chances for happiness if I devote myself to discovering the pluses."
Peace and Love,
