SparkPeople is my Hope!

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

I hate the way I look. Through the years of mental and physical abuse I have gained 110 pounds because of emotional eating.! emoticon I avoid going out in public as often as possible because I feel so gross about my body. If I do go out I keep my head down and try not to make eye contact. Being this overweight is physically and mentally painful. I can't fit into certain seats, (I have even broken chairs) I have to walk sideways through a turnstiles, get tired and out of breath easy, just standing up talking to someone hurts my back, I leave an indentation in my bed (anyone looking at it would think it is one of those foam mattresses!), can't cross my legs, men look the other way, and worse thing of all, I love the rides at Disney but I am scared of trying to get on a rides and be told I am to fat.

I want to lose weight, not only for my health but for my self-confidence. But to lose weight I need to exercise, but exercise hurts. So I am stuck. emoticon

But there is hope! Sparkpeople! Through SparkPeople I have been blessed with so many kind friends offering tons of support! I started this journey last year. It has been filled with obstacles and setbacks. But I can not give up. I still have hope. SparkPeople is that hope! emoticon

I am getting my Spark back this week! emoticon emoticon

emoticon You don't have to become a runner to lose weight or get healthier. I agree - check out the chair exercise group until you can do more. Never give up - the time will pass either way, but you can make major changes by following a plan consistently. Go back and reread some of the success stories.
Wishing you all the best! emoticon

Well you are in the right place for making a change. You are not alone here. Consistency is the key; consistently log on to Spark, consistently read articles/blogs on Spark, start out slowly (focus on 10 lbs at a time, slowly add new goals to your plan, start out with 10 minutes of exercise a day) and love the person in the mirror (everyday).

There are so many things you can do from the comfort of your home to start making changes. I have the Leslie Sansone "Walk at home...Walk 5 miles Fat Burning" dvd; she has a couple of ladies walking at different levels. You watch tv and walk in place the entire episode or just walk in place during commercials.

You can do this. Read the blogs and find a sparker that motivates you and follow that person. See how they are "making it happen". Do not try to do this alone; the more "cheerleaders" you have in your corner, the more motivated you will stay to reach your goal. It looks like you have a few cheerleaders already.

Good luck to you on this new lifestyle.

You are definitely not stuck! If exercise hurts then start by walking and start slowly... walk around your living room until you can do that until the pain decreases. It may take days or weeks to do that. Then walk outside... start at your door and walk a few minutes out and back and increase it until you can walk further. You will surprise yourself as after a while that it will become easier and easier...

Don't try to do it all at once... try it a little bit at a time. Choose one or two things and do them for days or weeks until they become part of your life... like brushing your teeth, then move to the next one.

You can do it... and we're here to cheer you on!!!

Don't give up!! That's the worst you can do. If exercising hurts, can you try exercising that doesn't involve the part of the body that hurts you the most. Start small and don't push yourself too hard. We don't want to see you hurt but this website is awesome, isn't it?

Hi, you. I have found so many exercise links to things I can do on the Chair Exercise team. They have links for members at all levels of activity including those in wheelchairs. I do chair marching for my steps and use other chair exercises from their links for core and upper body work. And you can use the links without joining the team. You can reach them through my spark page team list. Good luck. emoticon

emoticon Its great you are still here keepin on keepin on! Start with small changes. As far as exercise, start with a pedometer and just walk as much as possible. Try for 10,000 steps/day. I have permanent injuries to both legs, so a lot of exercises are impossible. That's how I started, just tracking my steps and setting goals for each day. I have also found that I must get in 100-120 oz of water/ice tea every day.
