Comfort Eating and Exercise Motivation

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

I've been battling with comfort eating and motivation to exercise a lot more in the last week than normal. I have a 2 mth old that loves to be held more than sleeping in her bed so I'm on the couch a lot. I don't get many hours of straight sleep with her nighttime feedings so being slightly tired doesn't make it any easier. This week also marks the 1 year since my son became an angel. I've been really depressed. I'd like to bring on the comfort food and forget the workout but instead....

I find if I tell my husband that I won't be doing my workout I feel super guilty after I say it and somehow my daughter knows and cooperates so my excuse is gone and I go workout. I tell myself just walk if you don't want to run and it's like the pressure is gone and I end up running after my warmup walk wakes me up. I feel great afterwards of course so now I try to remember that feeling when I just don't have the motivation.

As for the comfort eating, I've added some of my comforts into my regular meals to help hit the spot. Like I have nutella on toast, no butter or margarine, tastes so chocolately. I eat smart pop popcorn as a snack because it lasts longer than others, I eat one piece at a time too. It's weaning food as comfort and keeping me within my cals.

you can do it!! dont worry about failing. Especially as a new mom. You have to give yourself some grace. Congrats on your new little one! Now it is my turn of being pregnant again! If you do something, it is better than nothing. Walk, jog, anything intentional! The accountability helps too. I hope things are working better for you and you are getting more sleep. Shan
