December personal Goal: NO EATING OUT
Well i am definately on a mission for the rest of this month.
my goal for the month of December is to not spend money on food that isnt going to be prepared by me.
i am trying to be more resourceful and cook for myself. i think that home cooking is so beneficial for so many different reasons. first and most importantly, you know what in the foods that are being prepared and there are no hiddens or surprises. also, this ensures that my body is being fed with healthy and fresh food every day, the portions are being controled and im not going to tempt myself with anything on my plate that cannot being readily enjoyed. not only is it the healthier option, but it also gives my wallet an added bonus. eating out is cheaper perhaps if just looking at the cost to make a full meal, verses buying it... but in all actuality, if you plan right, eating at home is so much cheaper over all. and the last reason for choosing that as my goal is to just gain an overall broader spectrum of the cooking /baking world. ive always just enjoyed cooking, learning new recipes, and making my friends and family my test subjects muahahaha!!
so far i have made 3 new dishes:
Spinach Artichoke Pasta with grilled chicken
chicken and shrimp stir fry
Chicken Creole Jambalya
next on my list:
chicken pot pie
baked chile rellenos
lime cilantro shrimp with mixed veggies
the only day that im going to allow for eating out is on December 10th. my team at work is celebrating Christmas and are given a budget to go out to dinner with. we are going to a popular mexican restaurant downtown san antonio and im pretty excited. im hoping tho that we get to make our own dinner choice and that we arent limited in any way. my plan is to stick to chicken fajitas with limited sauces and add-ons, and limited rice. im also going to ask the chips and salsa not be placed in front of me :)
