I lost weight from the surgery ahh

Wednesday, December 21, 2011

The first few days were the worst for my recovery. Not just the pain, but for eating. My tummy couldn't handle a lot of food. I have been drinking a lot of water though. My stomach is handling more portions of the bland food, but I am still far from my calories. I am not going to the bathroom right yet, yuck. I can't eat high fat foods or dairy. I don't want to eat too much meat because I don't want to overload my digestion. My stomach grumbles all of the time but I don't feel hungry. After I eat, my stomach hurts a bit. I don't like that feeling!

I finally left my parents house, and I am back at my apartment. I can't drive yet because of the percocets. I wish I didn't have to take them, but my one incision in my belly button hurts. I am waiting to hear back from the Dr to see if he wants to look at it.

I weighed myself today on my home scale and I lost weight. I assumed I did. Before the surgery I lost 36 lbs. After today, I lost 43 lbs now. I don't even feel like this is a good thing because that was an awful way to lose it! I hope soon I can eat all of my calories! I need to have small meals more often I think to help with the digestion process!

It takes a while to heal from that kind of surgery. I had to have it done 5 years ago although I did not seem to have many problems. Hope you feel better soon!

I'm sorry you had to have surgery, and that isn't the best way to lose, but hard to help in these situations. I had surgery on my ankle a month ago and couldn't eat either. Its hard when you messed up, but miralax helped over a few days. It was still hard to eat even if I was hungry, after 2 or 3 bites, that was it. I stayed in the500 Cal range and drank alot of water. I lost 8 lbs and have kept off 6 so far. I'm mostly using this as portion control now, and eating more fruits and veggies. Kind of like a restart. The pain pills mess you up Good luck, and heal quickly.
