Taking a New Direction for 2012

Thursday, December 29, 2011

Well 2012 is almost here and I am looking forward to a fresh, brand new year to lay some successes out on. If you follow my website www.healthysustainableli
you know that I promote creating goals rather than making new years resolutions. Resolution are just glorified wishes that need sculpting and defining to really change your life.

"Many of us spend half our time wishing for things we would have if we didn't spend half our time wishing." ~ Alexander Woollcott

I have decided, after reviewing my past year, that I really need a change on the fitness front. I don't have weight loss goal as I'm where I want to be weight wise, but I am looking for challenge. It's time to change it up and focus on a new training method. After much research I have settled on Crossfit. I love the look that traditional bodybuilding gives me, but I want my form to follow function. I want to have true strength, so that any obstacle can be overcome.

One of the most beautiful women on the figure stage today is Erin Stern. And her physique was not found in a gym. She is an excellent track athlete in her own right. In fact she announced not to long after the Olympia that she was going to try out for the Olympic track team. So, it's time to stop focusing on traditional bodybuilding and really build the beautiful and functional body I dream of.

Along with this change I am also going to shift my diet, yet again, to a more paleo approach. I am going to still uphold my sustainable choice to only eat eggs, and sustainably caught seafood for animal protein, but I am going to remove almost all grains out of my diet. I have always believed that the equation to fitness is 80% diet, 10% workouts and 10% genetics and if I really want to define true fitness my diet needs attention.

My other goal is to have my family's next debt milestone, Great Lakes student loan, paid off by September 30th, 2012. I know we can do it! I was lucky enough to get tickets to Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover live event when it's here in FL for Christmas. I am so excited and I know it will only make our resolve to pay off our debt stronger.

Well, I'm sure I can think of a dozen other goals for 2012, but this post would turn into a book. What are some of your goals for the coming year? How did you do looking back on 2012? I know the future is bright and we can all be successful as long as we keep forging ahead.
