Help! How do I stay inspired?!

Sunday, February 26, 2012

For the past few weeks, I've had problems checking in with Sparkpeople. As in, I haven't been doing it.

It's a failure on my part - I'm not going to be too hard on myself but I also realize that I am hurting my own goals by not following through with calorie/exercise tracking and by not seeking help from and interacting with the community.

What has NOT worked...I repeat...HAS NOT worked:
- Inspiring photos posted where I can see them.
- Blogging daily (I have a daily accountability blog off site)
- Sparkstreaks: they don't seem to keep me on track.

So tell me, passersby: how do YOU manage to stay inspired? How do you remind yourself to visit the site?

Also, if anyone has any advice...I'm open to it. Fill me with inspiration! Help me get that spark back!

Different things inspire different people, as we are all individuals. I would just say find what moves you, whatever gets you fired up...whether it be an outfit, a role model/professional athlete, some upbeat music, a particular activity (I have a friend who LOVES karate classes), maybe even a motivating movie or two.

I love being involved with everyone here. The message boards and blogs of others are huge for me. I subscribe to the blogs and have new posts emailed to me. This way I get them in my email, read them and do other things on the site.

My involvement with SparkPeople comes and goes on a regular basis. Sometimes it's just too much to keep track of, you know? I have to be on the computer all week for work and between email and facebook, that's about as much time as I want to spend online (Netflix aside).

I use Spark People to do a general track, but I don't track everything I eat and every exercise I do. I think I stay with it because the act of logging in and putzing around the site reminds that I want to get in shape and lose weight. It's so easy to let other things get in the way, but the simple act of spinning the wheel tells my brain, "Remember? With all the sh!t going on in life, health and fitness cannot keep coming in last! YOU HAVE GOALS! ONLY YOU CAN DO IT!" Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. (I also like to watch the little weight loss gauge move hasn't in a while...)

I wish I knew how to help you get the spark back!
Some of my inspiring photos only work for me because I added words to them. I wrote what it is about them that make me want to continue with my weight loss journey and how my weight is preventing me from getting what I want in those pictures. Not sure if that helps. I'm pretty new to this so I haven't been through what you're going through but I really hope you find the answers you're looking for.
