I decided to do a 5K/Juicing
Friday, May 18, 2012
My decision to take the steps to complete a 5K was something out of the blue. I had thought of it once or twice before, but never really looked into it. Now out of all my workouts I love running the most. It's empowering, it's challenging, its free.........lol. I really have my heart set on this. To get myself really back in the grove of running every day I started out running at 5 minute intervals with a two minute walk in between that time for about 20-25 minutes. Even as I type this I'm remembering how great I felt this morning after my run. I'm so geeked!!! So my plan is to sign up for the Pink Shamrock 5k race. This isn't until September so I have a little over 4 months to get ready for it. Months ago I was afraid that I would look foolish.....trying to run a 5k with all these skinny folk (what am i thinking)....or at least those WERE my thoughts back when. I wish I had someone running beside me, pushing me when I feel like i can't go anymore-so I opted to have thoughts of my father who on Christmas Eve 2008 had a stroke, has nerve damage on the right side of his body, memory constraints, and has a bit of slurred speech but is still one of the most incredible people I know.
I ran across a website today called Black Girls Run and decided to take a peek into what was inside. They had lots of interesting links for runners and i came to the link for juicing. Now mind you, I have a juicer, a used one but a juicer nonetheless which was given to me over a month and a half ago and is still collecting dusk on my kitchen counter top. I'm not really certain on all the benefits of juicing, I just know that juicing is supposed to help absorb the vitamins and minerals quicker than eating the fruits and vegetables. Any tips would be helpful.
What do you do when you have no one to motivate you there running beside you, none of your friends or family work out, and sometimes you just need that extra push ? God knows there are days when I need someone to say "hey, you're on a mission," instead of my body telling it can't take any more.
Happy Friday People
