Why the sad face? Well my mom and I recently visited a local Whole Foods store and found pumpkins seeds. She heard on Dr. Oz that they were good at curbing the appetite. I didn’t watch the particular show but from her excitement I don’t think it was mentioned how high they are in calories and fat. I was actually in disbelief when I looked up the nutritional value right here on Sparkpeople.com. 1 cup - 640 calories and over 50 grams of fat. Can you believe it? It’s still hard to believe that those little seeds are packing that much fat and calories and this is for the raw version.
No I won’t trade them for a cheeseburger cause they do have health benefits: Protein, lowering bad LDL cholesterol, said to help with Prostate Health and one claim was they help fight against depression.
Good for that. Perhaps that will help me get over the fact that I won’t be eating as many aday as I thought I would. I actually like the taste of them in their raw form.
