OMG, I can't believe I'm finally writing another blog entry. We've recently gotten a trailer and have been camping every chance we get.
(I call it "Lucy's long, long trailer"!)
I thought it would be easier to follow the Spark lifestyle in a trailer-camping situation (than when we stay in motels and eat in restaurants), but it's a bit more of a challenge than I anticipated. I get relaxed (nice way to say LAZY) and don't want to cook breakfast, so I start grazing on whatever I can reach- not good. The days seemed to go downhill from there. AND we always seem to have others with us (last weekend we were feeding 9-11 people per meal), so it's easy to revert back to old ways calorie-ladened snacks and imbalanced meals. I also find the trailer sooooo comfortable that I don't get my fanny out and exercising- I'm a watcher, not a doer. When the gang went swimming, I stayed and read. I'll have to get into a routine of walking early in the mornings. And there's another challenge- I don't want to go to sleep when I'm away. It's a great chance to read in bed 'til 2 or 3 in the morning- shame on me. I have soooo many hurdles to overcome. Oh well, that gives me something on which to work.
On the positive side- because I was doing the food preparation, the gang generally ate healthier (wheat bread, skim milk, lots of fruit, less chips and sweets, healthier breakfasts [when I finally made them], less soda, more water, etc.). I'll just have to get my meals set: a set dinner for Friday night; set breakfast, lunch, and dinner for Saturday; and set breakfast and lunch for Sunday. If I do that, it takes the guess work out of what to fix, and I know we'll be eating healthier and more balanced.
I'll let you know how it works.
How do you maintain the Spark lifestyle when you're camping?
