I'm telling you baby
You know that only the good die young
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Only the gooooooooooooooood
Only the good die young
Ooo ooo ooo...

You might have heard I run with a dangerous crowd
We ain't too pretty we ain't too proud
We might be laughing a bit too loud
Aw But that never hurt no one

So come on Virginia show me a sign
Send up a signal I'll throw you the line
The stained-glass curtain you're hiding behind
Never lets in the sun
Darlin' only the good die young
I tell ya
Only the good die young

This is parts of a song that has stuck in my mind all week as I have went through my day. I believe Billy Joel sings it, and I remember it well. Last week a young man that I got the pleasure of teaching in Sunday School died at the young age of 22. He was a precious person to me. He opted to come back in my classroom for 2 years to listen because he loved me I guess. emoticon He was always the type to be into mischief. Bad! No I would not call him that! He had a heart of gold and would give you his shirt off his back. He was a very unique person. One you either loved or you just did not like. I do not know how anyone could dislike him though.

He died at a sweet sixteen party. He went to leave the party to go home and some shots were fired from out of no where. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital I work for. No one knows why the shots were fired, or who did it. I went to the funeral home to grieve with the family and as I was standing in line I noticed a young man with a picture of the boy who died on his tee shirt. The caption above the picture said "Gone but not forgotten." The caption on the bottom of the picture said "Only the Good Die Young!

Later this week I was at work as we got word that two young men I did not know would be coming in on an ambulance DOA. They were only 18 years of age and had just graduated from high school. Football stars for one of our local schools, and so much of life ahead of them. There were three others about the same age coming in that were barely hanging on. I said a quick prayer for the families and for all of the employees that would have to face and help these families. They had been in a car accident. They were not speeding, cutting up or anything of this sort. The road was wet as it has not rained in awhile and the car spun and hit a tree. Two of the boys in the back seat were killed immediately. The song again came back to my mind again....

I guess what I am trying to say is this:
I have erased this blog three times. But no I am going to say it. Maybe someone out there needs to hear it. It can never hurt to remind someone, Have you hugged your child today? Have you hugged your love ones and told them how much they mean to you? We are none of us promised tomorrow. Get things right today while you can! Life is short, and some things don't need to go unsaid. Thanks for listening! It has felt like a release of burden to write this blog. It's been a week of lots of emotions in my community and in my life. Hopefully lots of thinking! No I do not believe that only the good die young, but this week has been a rough one to prove any other way. This too shall pass...... emoticon

Thanks for the reminder that we need to love today, because we don't know if we'll have tomorrow. I said a prayer for all those families and for all the nurses and doctors who try so hard to heal and comfort. Thanks for doing what you do, April. emoticon

emoticon It is so much more tragic when young lives are cut short. I am so sorry you had so much loss this week, April. And the families of those young people, it's got to be a hole that never fills.

Sis, it's like God had you write this blog for me. I've been on a roller coaster of sorts with my youngest daughter for the last few years. Just when I think it's time to exit the ride, we get to spinning again, this week was no exception. Just keep us in your prayers.

It also saddens me when young people die, and there are too many of them. Back in '73 my 14 yr.old Nephew died, an accident. So I know how you feel about losing someone special, to young to leave us behind. Thanks for your blog. It is a good reminder to hug who we have here, and to let them know how much they are loved!

Wow, stories like that just make you see how small and trival our whining is at times. I feel for those parents. I can't even imagine how hard it is to lose a child.

God put you in a good place where you can pray for those who needs it. Our hospital used to be a few blocks away. After a bad motor cycle wreck that almost took my nephew, I got to the point, if I would hear the medical helicopter go over, I would pray for whoever was in it. One time I heard it go over, and I whispered a prayer. About 20 minutes later a friend of mine called and they had just flown her daughter out. She was in labor and there was complications. Thankfully mom and baby were fine.

    Good blog April emoticon

emoticon emoticon Sending a HUG to You!! It is ALWAYS good to be reminded to Hug our Family and Friends often. Will keep the Families that you mentioned in my Prayers too. They will have a tough road to walk, but they won't have to walk alone, I pray.
