What's Working

I've been a spark woman now for a full week. Today starts Week 2, and I am full of motivation, gratitude, and spark.

I lost 2.4 pounds last week, so something is working. I wanted to make a list of what's working for me, probably so I can return to read it again when I'm struggling for something to work again, and also to share some thoughts with my spark teams and friends.

I love spark points. Recognition, earning rewards is key for me, and the gamer in me loves winning points. Who cares what they may be used for, they add up, they move me towards trophys, higher levels, and they encourage the behavior that will lose weight. Reading articles, web searches on health items, trivia quizzes give me information, information is power, and with power, I can create change.

Just 10 minutes for myself. Working exercise into my schedule has always been a struggle for me, I'm too tired, can't find the time. But by focusing on just 10 minutes on the treadmill, I'm stepping on, and staying on longer than just the 10 minutes. I downloaded a walking cd from Sparkpeople, and the music gives me energy. I'm gradually adding more to my workout, gradually developing the habit.

Water is also another hard thing for me to get in, and I know it's one of the most important things. I have a water bottle, I know I need to drink 4 of them a day. I'm adding lemons to the water, and a splash of zero calorie fruit flavors, right now it's ICE. I don't really like the sparkling water, but it adds a pickup to my water bottle. Which in turn makes me pick up the water bottle.

Journaling food. I'm on the diabetic nutrional plan, and I love being able to see how many carbs, protein, etc that I have in one day. It helps, and I've downloaded the app to my phone and Ipad so I can logging in when I'm back to work in a few days.

Recipes ... love the spark recipes, and even have keyed in a recipe here and had the calculator tell me the calories, etc. What a great resource.

Spark teams, reading and sharing, huddling, not only earn me spark points (which I love), but you inspire me. I hope to inspire just as much as I am inspired, share the spark.

    Keep up the good work. Always keep you eye on the goal and work toward that goal and you will eventually reach that goal. I like the sparkpeople too. It is a motivating place to visit every day. emoticon
