Taking care of me

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

OK so here is the deal... I've been to the dentist on and off for years, for the last 8-10 YEARS I have not seen a dentist. I was keeping up with maintenance etc, in fact the hygienist said that my teeth were in pretty good shape for not having been to a dentist in so long. They NEVER hurt, I had more important things to do, raising 4 boys alone, replacing all my doors and windows in this very old house yada yada...... I decided that this was the year that I was going to get back to the dentist.

So I did some research, as I wanted a larger practice in case I had to carry a balance etc. I went met the dentist for initial assessment, I had over 6 grand in dental! 10 cavities mostly older fillings that needed to be replaced and a total of 6 crowns. Got one already done, replacing an older one that had a cavity under it.

Today I spent 3 hours in the chair getting all the rest of the fillings done! I was getting to the end of my treatment plan year money wise. figured I'd have to wait til next year to finish with the crowns, I got news today that a supplemental dental plan I was carrying will let me switch from the HMO to a PPO that this dentist will allow! SO I can get more done this year! I'm very happy!

I have filling in 2 of my front teeth that are very Tea stained so I will be very happy to be able to do teeth smiles again! And no more silver fillings they are all gone with porcelain fillings... a good day! Thank you Lord!

So brave to be happy about all that dental work. I dread fillings and the like. I found out I might need a crown sometime, and I'm not looking forward to it.

Good for you taking care of this! I personally don't like going to the dentist, but I do like my dentist! (the funny thing is when we moved up here he was still in high school. Amazing what these kids learn and turn out to be incredible professionals! He is good and I really like him as a dentist) I go twice a year and hope for the best!

Oh that is wonderful! I don't have any dental and am currently in pain with exposed nerves from a tooth that cracked:(
I would have to pay cash and thats just not going to happen anytime soon.
We are looking into getting some dental insurance soon.
I'll probably using it all up in one sitting! LOL

So happy you can show a beautiful smile!! emoticon
