Evaluating progress without the scales

I had been discouraged because I was not seeing downward movement on the scales. After reading an article on SP about portion control, I realized that I had not been watching this closely enough. I knew I was feeling better even though the weight seemed to be stuck. On Wednesday this week, I went on a hike with my husband. He walks rather fast even through the woods. The last time I went with him, before joining SP, I could not keep up, I was short of breath and had to stop and rest before we got to our destination. This time, I made it all the way without having to stop once. I was not even short of breath as I had been before even after a rest. I felt so good about my progress, and was more motivated because I knew that I was getting healthier, and that is my main goal. I owe this to SP because this has kept me accountable every day.
