Eliminating Foods

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I have hit a stand still on getting my weight down past 206. I am going to try eating more vegetables since I can't eat fiber foods due to potassium. I have a list of low potassium vegetables and am trying to eat more veggies than fruit daily. Am going to change my exercise pattern when I can exercise in the morning now that I have 3 days without running making deliveries. A friend suggested this to me and I'm willing to try it and see if it works better.

I have an appointment to have an echo-cardiogram and get a holter monitor to wear for 24 hours tomorrow. Then go back to see the cardiologist in two weeks. Praying that all will go well.
Have a Blessed evening.

Hope you do well with the increased veggies low in potassium. Changing the type of exercises that you do can also help speed the weight loss, I think the body gets comfortable with the same exercises each day. You can do it fellow Shooting Star! emoticon emoticon June

I really upped my veggie and fiber intake when I started running them through the blender with a little bit of fruit and drinking them. I have been informed that I'm drinking smoothies, as opposed to juice, because I am getting all of the pulp and peeling...hence more nutrients and fiber. I rarely add yogurt, and never use sweeteners as it is plenty sweet enough.

Hi Joanie, Some of these comments spurred me to look on line for veggies with high potassium, (to maybe avoid), and here is what I found on one website, (where they also said it is pretty well impossible to get too much potassium just from eating vegetables, BTW. ) But of course your doctor could advise you on this, re: if you ought to avoid certain ones -just as you must be careful not to eat too much of high-potassium fruit like bananas:

From the website (see URL below) "Below is a list of vegetables high in potassium:
    #1: Sun-Dried Tomatoes
    #2: Spinach
    #3: Swiss Chard (Cooked)
    #4: Mushrooms
    #5: Sweet Potato (With Skin)
    #6: Kale (Raw)
    #7: Brussels Sprouts
    #8: Zucchini With Skin
    #9: Green (Snap) Beans
    #10: Asparagus "

And there is a list of OTHER veggies rich in potassium, on the same site:

(Remember that they also say it is pretty impossible to overdose on vegetables that you would eat each day.) I think (pray) if you do a web search for a "Low-Potassium" diet plan, you can find one! I am praying for you and your cardiac halter-test, that there will be good results. Also praying the scales will move downward again SOON!

if you have to keep your potassium low be careful with too many veggies and fruits. they all are full of potassium , I eat them to get rid of annoying sodium who makes me swell lol.
