Old habits are hard to break!

Wednesday, April 17, 2013

I went home for a week to take care of some chores. I'm working in another state right now, so I return home every few months. I did "okay" on my food plan the first day....but WOW....the 2nd day I started to eat like a horse.

It was almost unconscious. Before I knew it, I was stuffing my face. I felt horrible physically. Being really "full" just doesn't feel good. I did track my cals for that 2nd day, it was something like 2600.

For the next 6 days, I continued to eat whatever I wanted and stopped tracking. I ate all my fave foods.

I'm back now after 7 days. THANKFULLY, I automatically got back on track again. I weighed myself and was actually "happy" that I only gained about 3 pounds. I thought I would have gained all my weight back.

I guess what I've learned about this is maybe I shouldn't go home until I'm more secure in my food plan. Maybe once I lose a good 40 or so pounds. It just seems like certain old habits just sneak up on you. Maybe being home triggered a lot of negative things for me.

Regardless, I am GRATEFUL that I'm on track again and can't wait to get rid of the 3 pounds so I can get back to where I was. I know they will come off fast and then I can continue the journey. :)

Thank you everyone. It does feel good to be back on track. I'm so happy I didn't just throw in the towel altogether like I normally would have. I was surprised I lost 2 pounds today.

I guess I need to be careful about "changing" anything right now. I just need to stick to a routine for a while I guess.

It is hard sometimes. We have routines for places -- or at least I do -- and a change throws off that balance. I moved recently and am still trying to get that groove going.

Glad you're able to get back to your routine.

Way to go getting back on track so quickly! It won't take long to lose that weight.

Sometimes just getting into a routine is a good place to start. Don't worry, we all slip up, what matters is that you got right back on it again. xoxo
