No change. Maybe I'll just give up.

Wednesday, July 03, 2013

This stubborn scale is not changing.
Inches haven't come off.

I workout every day. Sometimes twice a day. Sometimes more than that. I burn between 500-700 calories a day working out.

Maybe I need to up it.

Maybe I need to give up. Give up negative thoughts. Give up feeling bad about myself. Give up butter. Give up cookies. I can't give up coffee but I did give up sugar. emoticon

I will give up. I will give up thinking that I'm less than perfect. I'm going to give up worrying about other people's opinions.

Ill tell you what I won't do though. I'm not going to quit! I have too much to lose and too many people to be healthy for.

WE CAN DO THIS!

I call this my "transition" phase! The scale doesn't budge, working out an hour a day (hard) for 6 days a week, eating in my calorie range and getting all the protein I need....but I know it is working - the scale may not change but I can just imagine the fat being burned off and replacing the exact same weight with lean muscle! Then when I look at the scale, it has no effect on my mood - just a "huh, guess it is all internal happenings today"....and go on. If you keep at it, eventually it tips and then you have a loss week! Hoorah! Hang in there!

Way to go! "Giving up" is an awesome attitude to have. I had the same issues at first. The scale wasn't changing but my husband kept insisting that "I" was changing. My muscles were toning, my energy was increasing, my attitude was better, my all around fitness was improving by leaps and bounds every day. You can't always measure success in the scale. Changing things up a bit might help you out though. And it's always important to make sure you aren't burning too many calories. If you burn too many, your metabolism will slow down and your body will save rather than burn. Best of luck to you!

For the longest time the scale wasn't reflecting the changes going on inside me either, although I knew I was eating healthier. The big thing for me was realizing that I was stronger and had more endurance. I've noticed that my body drops weight, then stabilizes for awhile before it's willing to lose again. Doesn't mean I'm doing anything wrong, just that this is the way my body is.

Pound, inches and clothing sizes are nice, but sometimes we have to look beyond those things to other measures of health and fitness.

You can do this. Take that adorable little girl for a walk in her stroller. Changing up your routine should help. Tracking my food works wonders for me. Remember that what you eat is 80% of your diet and exercise is the rest. We are all here to help each other, Spark People is great.

    With love!

Review what you have been doing and see where you can make a change. Different workouts (your body gets used to the same activity). Get more walking in if you don't already, walking break a couple times a day if you can.

Just some stuff that has worked for me when I got stuck. Everybody is different. Keep that great attitude!

Never ever give up! The scale is NOT our friend and looking at it daily doesn't make it so! How about sending it on a closet vacation for awhile? You might find it changes how tou feel and that while you can't measure your weight, you can compare how clothes fit and how you feel! Don't let the scale rule you! I believe in you! You CAN do this emoticon emoticon

Perhaps it is possible that you are exercising too much. Count your calories and do not go below 1200. That is the best advice I can give.
