Salad in a Jar - The Best Thing Since Sliced Bread
Wednesday, November 20, 2013
I "discovered" salad in a jar a few weeks ago... it didn't seem earth shattering but a convenient way to bring salad greens with carrots, peppers, celery, whatever and dressing along to work rather than paying $5 for a deli salad or bringing one in a container that occasionally leaked the dressing in my tote.
Well, let me say that I am loving it! I can pack it at night - I use a Ball jar- put on the olive oil & lemon juice or vinegar, sprinkle w/ Penzy's Salad Seasons - shake once or twice and store in the fridge. Next morning, I take it out, pack in my tote and I'm off to work.
At noon it's always still crisp, fresh and easy to eat either right out of the jar or to toss on a paper plate. All free - practically zero calories (and I can track these when I add my breakfast to the food tracker) several helpings of vegetables and - best of all free!
I don't really each much bread any more but I'll be eating salad in a jar several times a week!
