Wow! It Has Been a Long Time

I can't believe it has been two years since I last updated my blog post. Here I am in a recent photo. I have gained up to 226 pounds, but as of Sept. 4, 2013, I have lost almost 29 pounds since May 2013. I read the book called Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis and realized how grains and processed foods were killing me. My health had really gone down, and I didn't feel like doing anything. I saw the difference in my daughter's face in August after she has been off wheat since the first of the year and was so impressed! She has lost weight, her hair looks awesome, her skin glowed, she acted and said she felt better. So, after she told me about Wheat Belly, I purchased it and read it. I need to read it again actually. LOL This book explains how grains and processed foods and sugar causes our blood sugar to spike, which then causes our health to break down.

Well, I wound up having to have top teeth pulled where I had a bridge to get a partial put in. During this process, I could not eat much, so my weight loss started then. I stopped drinking diet sodas at that time, too. On August 21, 2013, I went grain free and started eating healthier by eating meat and vegetables. I still have not completely gotten off sugar, but I need to. I don't eat chips, candy, drink sodas, in other words I don't eat junk food anymore. I do use coconut flour, almond flour, and ground flaxseed. I use coconut oil and olive oil and butter to cook with. Wheat belly claims that eating high fat and low carb is the way to go. My husband is diabetic, so this way of eating has helped him drop his sugar levels even lower, and he is also losing weight.

I have more energy than before most days. I also, don't hurt constantly most days like I did before. I still have about 65 pounds I want to lose, and it is coming off slowly. I believe this is working for me, and I'm eating healthier than I ever have in my life. I love bread, but it is not a big deal for me anymore. I can do without it. I love the fact that I am losing weight and doing what is better for me in my eating habits. As I said earlier, I still need to do some tweaking with my food plan and exercise more, but I'm getting there.

I hope all is well with you and keep up the great work!
